How can we transition from quick book desktop to quick book online?

Let me discuss the process of migrating your company files from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), Sumbal.

When transitioning from QBDT to QBO, check the file size of your QBDT company file to ensure it meets the requirements for the conversion. Also, you have to review your data and decide what information you want to move to QBO.

The data migration process involves a few steps. Here’s a concise guide:

Step 1. Check File Size Requirements:

  1. Ensure your QuickBooks Desktop is up-to-date.
  2. Press Ctrl+1 to check the total targets (should be less than 750,000).
  3. Print your Sales Tax Liability report for adjustment entries later.

Step 2. Export Your Data from Desktop:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop, and select your company file.
  2. Go to File and click the Utilities in the dropdown.
  3. Choose Export, then select Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.

Steps 3. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.

Please note that you have 60 days from the creation date of your QBO account to move your data. For a comprehensive guide to the process, I recommend referring to this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

You may check out this article for additional information on moving from QBDT to QBO: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
