How do I run a report showing income by customer which also shows the zip code or city in QB Online?

As of now we don't have the option to customize Income by Customer report showing the customer's address (zip code or city). What you can do is open/run the Customer Contact List and Income by Customer or the Sales by Customer report and export the information.

To open the report:

1. Click on Reports at the left pane.
2. Look for the report you wanted to open in the search field.
3. Make the necessary customization.

I followed the directions, but I don't see the option within that report to add the customization.

Let me share additional information on how you can customize your reports to suit your business needs.

As mentioned by my colleague, @Angelyn_T, the ability to generate a report that shows both your income per customer and zip code or city is not yet available. What you can do is to open the Customer Contact List and download it as an excel file. Here's how:

1. Go to Reports.
2. Choose Customer Contact List.
3. Filter to include the Zip code and City on the report.
4. Click the Download drop-down arrow.
5. Choose Export as Excel.
6. Open the downloaded file.

Once completed, let's download your Income by Customer or the Sales by Customer report. Here's how:

1. Click the Reports tab.
2. Select either Income by Customer or the Sales by Customer report.
3. Click the Download drop-down arrow.
4. Choose Export as Excel.
5. Open the downloaded file.

If you have the reports you need, copy the data under the City and Zip code columns from the Customer Contact list. Then, paste it to the Income by Customer or the Sales by Customer report.

It is absurd that Quickbooks can't develop simple reports that are key for business to get relevant planning data.

Its a crying shame this is supposed to be a great accounting software but a headache and wont do it

Going to look at going back to my desktop version which will do it at no extra cost. Will be cheaper in the long run. My CRM software will charge me an extra 50 to do it but id rather give them the money and use a full version of quickbooks that wont nickel and dime me to run a simple task.

This would benefit us greatly as we have to submit information by city for annual business licenses.  As of right now I am thinking my only option is to download two reports, run a vlookup against them, and hope the information is accurate.  Can this please be prioritized higher in your backlog of requests?

That's what I'm going to do.

I saw a few posts from admins and employees and they say - "oh, that's easy - just upgrade to $80/month version"

Looking for a report to do this on desktop as well. Does anyone here know what report works on desktop for this?

I will guide you on how to find the report in QuickBooks Desktop that shows income by customer with their zip code or city.

To show the zip code or city in the income by customer report, you have to customize it. Here's how:

1. Go to Reports and select Company & Financial.
2. Find Income by Customer Detail
3. Select Customize Report
4. Under the Display tile click on Search Columns
5. Type Name Zip to show the zip code and Name City to show the city name of the report and click OK
6. To ensure that the report is displaying the latest information, kindly click on the Refresh button
