How do show splits in a General Ledger report? Our beginning balance is off.

How can you see the each line of the split detail in the General Ledger report?

Which date applies to what?  There is a date in the general ledger and dates for each line of splits.

We'll have to run the Transaction List with Splits report to see the details of the split transactions along with their dates, houstonwb. I'm here to assist you in completing this task smoothly.

To start, let's open your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company and navigate to the Reports Center to access the report. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Reports menu on the left panel and enter Transaction List with Splits in the Find report by name field.
  2. On the reports screen, click the Report period drop-down and set the correct date range.

You can also customize the report to show specific details or tailor its layout. In addition, the date in the General Ledger applies to the entire transaction. While the dates for each line of splits refer to the individual dates of the split transactions.

Feel free to use the solutions found in these links to retain the current customization settings for your statements, and to change the the reporting basis:

People replying choose "splits" I need more help.  that is not enough for my CPA.  They want to know the details of what categories the expense is "split" into.  right now that means going through each split bill payment by hand.  There has to be another way.

Thanks for joining the Community and getting involved with this thread, emray79.

To properly identify which categories you'll want to split transactions into, I'd recommend working with an accounting professional.

If you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.

Here's how it works:

  1. Go to our Find a ProAdvisor page.
  2. Use the City or ZIP search field to specify a location.
  3. Select Find a ProAdvisor.
  4. Browse through your results and find one that works best for the business. You can click on each ProAdvisor's profile to learn more information about them.

Once you've found an accountant, they can be contacted through their Send a message form.

I've also included a detailed resource about splitting transactions which may come in handy moving forward: Enter a split transaction into the register

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any questions. Have an awesome Thursday!
