Buy nowHello, kkendall. We can utilize a direct link to download the QuickBooks Online (QBO) desktop app. I'll gladly share the information below.
Downloading the QBO app through the Get the desktop app option in the Settings or Gear ⚙ icon is only available on QuickBooks Online Advanced and Accountant versions. Instead, let's manually download the app using any of the links below. But before doing so, please ensure you have a 64-bit processor if you're using a Windows computer.
Also, you have the option to include a QuickBooks Online shortcut or icon on your desktop. You'll want to look into this article on how to do this for all browsers, regardless of whether you are using a Windows PC or a Mac: Create a desktop shortcut for QuickBooks Online.
I'm ready to back you up if you need more help downloading and installing QuickBooks products. I'll keep the thread open so you can comment back.
This is very helpful and I will try to direct download. However, I am using the Accountant's version as a ProAdvisor, and the "get desktop app" is not any of the locations mentioned above and in knowledge articles. I have over 10 clients on QBO and it is not available.
Thanks for getting involved with this thread, hennide.
You can try the links mentioned in Rea_M's post to download copies of the QuickBooks desktop app for both Windows and Mac computers.
I can confirm the Windows link works for me.
Here's an image showing my experience:
There's also these two links you can use for direct downloads of the QuickBooks desktop apps:
I've also included a couple detailed resources about working with our desktop apps which may come in handy moving forward: Download & use the desktop app

Thanks, Zack. I found the link to download the app, as you show in your response. Once it downloaded, it asked me to log in. After I logged in and selcted my Accountants QB Online, the response from QB was a circle of dots, like something was loading, but nothing loaded and it continued for at least 30 minutes before I ended the task. If I restarted the QB Online Desktop App, it asked if I wanted to restore the previous page or open a new one. I chose each task separately and still the circle of dots. I am having no luck finding anything about troubleshooting this. I am wondering if my current QB desktop version or Windows 11, recently installed, is the issue. Any insight would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Denise (hennide)
Thanks for getting back to the thread, @hennide.
I'd like to join this conversation and provide you with further assistance in logging into the QuickBooks Online Desktop app.
Since you're experiencing loading issues with the app, I recommend accessing your account through a web browser. This will help us determine if the issue lies within the app or your account itself. Please click on the following link in your browser to access your account: https://accounts.intuit.com/app/sign-in.
If you're able to successfully log in, I suggest uninstalling the app from your computer and then reinstalling it. This will refresh the application and resolve any issues it may have on your computer.
Additionally, you can refer to this guide for help in adjusting the settings in your QuickBooks Online account: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks.
Please feel free to leave a comment if you have any further questions regarding accessing your account in the QuickBooks Online Desktop app. I am here to assist you.
Hi,
I followed each step you recommend and went further by shutting down my computer and then re-installling the software. Additionally, I cleared my cache because every time after reinstallation it asks if I want the previous window restored and I select no. And I get the same result. After logging in to Quickbooks as requested, I see the intuit logo and then the circling begins. It has gone on for 30+ minutes. I am open to any further suggestions.
Thank you,
Denise
