Journal Entry in which Roles

Hi there, WayneLeong.

Let me share some insights about custom user roles work.

In QuickBooks Online Advanced, only the Sales user role can use general journal entries. Here's how to add a custom role:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Manage users.
  2. Head to the Roles tab, then choose Add role.
  3. Tick the Sales checkbox, then hit Next.
  4. Enter a role name and description, then click Save.

Once done, you can now assign this role to your new user:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then choose Manage users.
  2. Select the Users tab, then click Add user.
  3. Choose Custom role, then choose from the existing roles you created.
  4. Enter the user’s name and email address, then hit Save.

In addition, I recommend reading these articles to learn more about the different access permissions and user roles in QuickBooks:

If you have further questions about adding users, just let me know in the comment section. I'll get back to you and share some other helpful information and steps.

Journal Entry in which Roles

Hello,

Thank you for contact us. I am glad to help your problem.

It's possible that your User View is set as Business View reason why you're not seeing an option to create a Journal Entry. You'll want to modify your setting in the Advance tab as Accountant View to have this option.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Account and Settings.
  2. Choose the Advance tab.
  3. From the User view section, select Accountant view.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Then, Done.

Another way to create a Journal Entry is through your register. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the right top.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts under Your Company.
  3. Locate the account where you want to post the JE and click View register under Action.
