Can anyone provide help creating a report to give me sales by job type by month?

Allow me to chime in, @joey9.

I have another suggestion you could check into.

I recommend running a transaction detail report and customizing it only to show the sales of the job types. Below I've included the steps on how you can accomplish this.

1. Open the Reports menu and pick Custom Reports

2. The Customize report box will automatically appear. Go to the Filters tab and locate Transaction Type. Then, you'll select your sales transactions that you wish to see included in the report.

3. You can click OK to save the changes.

Please note: If you are seeing all the customer names along with the job types you can do a workaround to resolve this. By going to the job type list and running individual reports, you can also customize the report by going to the filter tab and selecting only the sales transaction types as mentioned in the above steps.

Please let me know if this works for you. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your response. You can always reach out to the Community or me anytime you find you need help. Take care!

I'm here to help you in generating reports, joey9.

We can pull up the Sales by Customer Summary. Then, let's customize this report to show only the sales transactions by job. You can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Reports menu. Hover over Sales, then select Sales by Customer Summary.
  2. Click on Customize Report and go to the Filters tab.
  3. Search and select Name in the Search Filters field.
  4. From the All customers/jobs drop-down, select Multiple names.
  5. On the pop-up, select the jobs. Then, hit OK.

If what you mean by the "job type" is the category you use when setting up the job, search and select Job Type in the Search Filters field. Then, from the Job Type drop-down, select the Multiple Job Types so you can choose more than one job type that you can include in the report.

Thank you for your prompt reply; however, this doesn't get me what I need. Your report gives sales per customer/job. I need sales by job type. If I do your report, I do get a list of customers/jobs and the total invoiced for the time period. If I then go back and add a filter for Job Type, the report produces no results.

Now, I thought I could go to the Job Type List and run a report on each job type, but the job type list report is only showing me costs, and I need income/sales.

Can anyone provide help creating a report to give me sales by job type by month?

Thanks all for your help! I've determined that the problem I'm running into is because our invoices are only based on the customer and not the specific customer:job. We use ServiceTitan for our service dispatch software, which exports invoices to QB through the web connector. Apparently at some point ServiceTitan stopped invoicing the specific job number, so these reports don't pull up invoices by job type.
