Being able to edit your expense categories by batch is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. You only have the batch option when entering, voiding, and deleting transactions.

For now, you'll have to edit the expense categories one at a time. I can see that having the ability to modify the categories in bulk would be time-saving. I'll take note of this preference and submit it to our developers, so they can assess the feedback and put it under consideration.

Utilize the 3d party tool to modify the data in bulk. Export your transactions data (e.g Purchase Order) to XLS, modify them, and import them back.
