2020 desktop pro.
There is no "update" procedure. QBDT and QBO are non compatible for "live" data transfer. You can import an entire desktop file but it overwrites any existing online data. If you just bought DT 2020 why migrate? If you need online access of your desktop file consider remote desktop software.
Yes, understand the nonlive data transfer. I am trying to upload a blank company file, to start over in QBO.
We were not able to migrate to QBO for QBD do to specific needs QBO did not have. That said, I have another company that I can use QBO for, and since I paid for a year of QBO I am trying to purge and restart company file in QBO.
Thank you for getting back to us here on the Community page, @Brennan Morrow.
We can only purge or upload a blank QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) file to QuickBooks Online (QBO) within 60 days after signing up to QBO. If your QBO is 60 days old or older, you need to cancel your current account and start a new company to start over fresh.

As always, read out QBDT or QBO articles in case you need tips and related links while working with QuickBooks in the future.
Get back to me if you have any other questions. I'm a post away to help. Have a good day!
