Can't open company file

Hi there, SoapChest. I'm here to get the help you need in opening your company file.

To fix the error message you encounter, we can either rename or move the company file to another location.

To rename it, here's how:

  1. Open the New Finder window and then locate your company file.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Select Rename.
  4. Create a new name.
  5. Once done, click OK.

To move your company file, follow these steps:

  1. Open the New Finder window and browse to where your company file is located.
  2. Go to the Edit menu.
  3. Choose Copy.
  4. Paste the file to another folder or you can create a new folder.
  5. Hover to Edit again, and then choose Paste.
  6. Open your QuickBooks, and then pick Browse.
  7. Look for the new location of the file, and then tap Open.
  8. Then, let's delete the file from the original location by going to the New Finder window again, and then drag the file to the Trash icon.

You may also consider running the verify and rebuild tool to fix common issues within your company file. For detailed steps, please refer to this article: Verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

If you have other questions, let me know by leaving a comment below. I'd be happy to work with you again. Have a great day!

@SoapChest

Which QB Desktop year version and MacOS do you run?

Did you just upgrade your MacOS?

Thank you so much. Renaming the file didn't work, but moving it did! We are back in business.
