Chart of Accounts

Working on setting up a more detailed Chart of Accounts in QBO. I want to include numbers however when editing the individual account, the number is combined in the Name field as well. When going back into the record, the Name field doesn't show the number. When chatting with the support they explained this is how QBO works and submitting to the engineering team. Does anyone have a workaround besides not using numbers?

Welcome to the Community space, @b54341.

I've got the steps that you need to clear the account number from the Name column. Just uncheck the Show account numbers in the Advanced tab. Let me guide you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Accounts and Settings.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. From the Chart of Accounts section, uncheck the Show account numbers box.
  4. Select Save and Done.

Once done, you can now edit your individual accounts.

Jeepers, that was simple.  Not quite sure why support told me this wasn't possible and it was how the function was designed.  Thank you Joesem!

I'm here to share some details in updating your Account Type, carlina1.

The ability to change the account type from Income to Revenue depends on your Company Type. To do so, I'd suggest changing the type to Nonprofit.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select Account and Settings.
  2. Choose the Company tab.
  3. On the Company type column, select the edit icon.
  4. Select the drop-down arrow beside Tax form, then click Nonprofit organization (Form 990).
  5. Click Save, then Done.

You can also check out this article to learn more about updating account type: Change the type of an Existing Parent Account or Subaccount.
