Let's make sure to fix your QuickBooks Point of Sale issue, rocksource.

Generally, you'll experience dashboard grayed-out when your client's workstation tries to connect, or when you open QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale on the server. Another factor is if your company file or POS installation is damaged. You'll want to make sure that your computer meets the system requirements to prevent any issues.

You can also try rebooting your computer for both the server and client workstations. This resolves the majority of your connection issues. Then adjust your User Account Control settings, here's how:

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows+R to open the Run window.
  2. Type Control Panel. Then select OK.
  3. Select User Accounts. Then select User Accounts (Classic View).
  4. Select Change user account control settings. (Note: If you are prompted by UAC, select Yes to continue).
  5. Move the slider.
    • Set to Never Notify and select OK to turn UAC OFF
    • Set to Always Notify and select OK to turn UAC ON ( Note: if prompted by UAC, select Yes to continue.)
  6. Restart the computer.

Lastly, toggle Multi-User Mode and try again:

  1. From the Server, choose File > Switch Company File to Single User Mode.
  2. When it's finished, choose File > Switch Company File to Multi-User Mode.
