you helped a lot I am sure, NOT
Amen done the same thing to me
Did it to me also. Had to pay 400& to see my invoices and who has paid them. Stupid to lock us out of our data
I was finally able to remove two users who should not have had access to our desktop version but were in our old system that had zero internet connectivity to Intuit!
I have hated that since starting to use the new Desktop software.
In the application you can go to "Company" then "set up Users and Passwords" then "user management"
You need to login as admin but there you can finally remove people!
They may still have intuit accounts but should not have access to your data...
you dont know what you are talking about. QB pops with a mandatory log in after 84 day. Us users that bought the desk top version should not have to do that. No way around it.
Customer protection? That's very sweet. Thank you Intuit for your nurturing and protection. However, the stated motives are, at best, deceitful. Want to know what Intuit is doing with your data? Look here: https://www.businessinsider.com/what-intuit-knows-about-you-2019-5. Headline: "Intuit . . . Knows as much about you as your Bank does -- if not More"
Here's a link to some alternatives. https://www.business.com/articles/quickbooks-alternatives/.
I cannot to speak to any of them, as I am just starting to research alternatives myself, prompted by Intuit's distasteful data siphoning. One that is not on the list that may be worth looking at is Sage depending on your needs.
But now that Quickbooks is no longer supporting Internet Explorer 11, I'm very worried this is going to cause a HUGE problem on my QB Desktop 2019.
Does login use IE 11 to login? If so that would be terrible. And what if I get a new PC that won't have IE 11 on it.
I'm not going to pay $350 when I don't need QB now or in the future.
BUT... I must keep 24 years of QB files for tax purposes and for selling my business or my real estate properties which need verification of expenses since I've owned the properties.
Please verify for me that login won't require Internet Explorer to work!!!!!!
Thank you!!!

Hi, Moonslice. I'm not an employee of Intuit so what I'm saying has zero "official" explanation capacity, but I haven't used Outlook with my Quickbooks in YEARS, and everything functions for me. I login sometimes with Chrome but usually with Brave.
Hi all!
There's a separate thread with a similar question about logging in to QuickBooks 2019 without Internet Explorer. Let me share this link so you can read the response from one of my colleagues about browser requirements in QuickBooks Desktop: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/account-management/re-how-to-stop-qb-from-requirin...
Let me know if you need anything else.
I advise you to take your old QB program and files and put them on a computer that will be kept off the internet. Also backup to an external hard drive regularly.
I advise you to take an old computer (or get one) and load your old software and files onto it - and keep it offline permanently. You should also backup the program and your files to an external hard drive regularly, or a third party platform such as dropbox. Intuit will absolutely hold your data hostage for more money.
Hi, Moonslice2. Not having a good tech day either, or else Intuit is re-routing replies on this threat to employees.

I appreciate you replying to me.
I'm not trying to use Outlook. Every so often QB 2019 requires me to verify my Intuit Account (through QB) popup browser window (I'm sure using Internet Explorer 11 since that's what QB uses).
Now that QB will no longer support IE 11, it may get to a point where I won't be able to verify my Intuit Account - and then I won't be able to user QB anymore.

Thanks for your suggestion.
I wonder if that might not work, since the way I remember it - QuickBooks forces you to login to your Intuit account periodically before it will let you use QB Desktop.
I was told by QB team to update to allow the new QB browser to take care of the problem of Internet Explorer 11 no longer being supported, BUT.... that doesn't work on QuickBooks Desktop 2019.
It isn't right that I would be required to continue to pay $350/year for a new version of QB Desktop Pro, when I don't want to use it actively anymore. All I need to do is refer to files and activity from previous years for taxes, etc.
Okay, if you don't use QBs. And it is for PURPOSES of protecting yourself.
Simply do a QB Backup. And keep your old files.
If you need to, you can give EITHER/BOTH of those to A CPA, who can import them into their copies.
To give you what you need.
Next up (I don't work for Intuit). Microsoft EDGE has IE Emulation. Edge is also available as an OCX (Object Registered on the Machine). I have not done it. I am in the SAME BOAT with 2016 Version of QB, that I will NOT upgrade. I don't use the features that require a browser. And if/when it becomes a problem, I will simply modify the system registry so that Microsoft Edge PRETENDS to be IE for their purposes.
And let this be a LESSON to everyone! All of these companies want you on a path to paying them EVERY YEAR to use their software. it's called RENT. Remember, you will OWN NOTHING and BE HAPPY!
They don't answer the question... Who WILL OWN everything? And how do we protect ourselves from "Sorry, you cannot logon to you QB Account because your Social Credit Score is too low! Try again NEXT MONTH after behaving better!" (And if you DON'T see this coming... Well, Keep your head buried in the sand, but I doubt you are reading this post).
We are being BOILED slowly... Most don't notice. This latest move has caused me to start looking at GnuCash and other solutions. I can NO LONGER Recommend QBs because of these tactics. We paid for the software, we should be able to use it in that environment forever! (PS: Do NOT upgrade to Windows 11, you will get ADS inside of your non-browsing (like temperature, and web searches when looking for windows programs)
This is just typical of a company that is successful, becomes dominate by creating a monopoly in the small business accounting software field. Now they think they have everyone by the gonads and so they are going to use their POWER to force you to do everything they want you to do.
I have been using Quickbooks for over 30 years and over the last few years I have grown to hate the the software because of a lot of the changes they have made. I want to only use a Desktop Accounting package for many of the same reasons that many of you express and I too do not use or intend to use all of the crap they try to shove down my throat. Something this simple as an example, every time they give you a Popup Message trying to sell you something new there is always a checkbox that says 'Please do not show this message again' and if you check the checkbox you expect that the message will actually not appear again. But of course it will, every time you login you will see the same message again.
And why since the last few releases of the software does it take forever for it to load? I would say part of the reason is that it is done on purpose so you will consider just caving in and buying the Online Version.
The best way to get their attention is for all of us to get together and file a Class Action Lawsuit against them for their predatory behavior, tactics and violation of our privacy.
The solutions is quite simple:
I have advised ALL my clients (close to 100) to not upgrade from their earlier versions of QBooks. I have clients using versions as old as 2007 and doing quite fine. most clients do not use payroll or online banking, so no need to switch.
Please send a mass email to all your clients to do the same. This is the only thing that will change this kind of predatory behavior!
Mario
Oracle would be my choice of accounting software.
I am the only one using my laptop. I do not want to be signed into anything intuit. THat is why I bought the desktop version. There is no X to close the sign in window. The software definitely requires signing into my online account with Intuit. If i open QB when i do not have internet available, and it wants me to sign in, i cannot access my data. If QB keeps this feature, neither i or the companies i manage will ever buy another Intuit product. The feature is not for the user's benefit, otherwise you would make it optional.
I am trying to do 1st QTR returns and it won't let me sign in. Every time they do this they will NOT except my pasSword. I HAVE ONE MORE MONTH ON MY CONTRACT WITH QIUCKBOOKS BUT THEY WON'T LET ME SIGN IN UNTILL I RENEW... I CAN'T BELIEVE QUICKBOOKS HAS NOT BEEN SUED OVER THIS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE DONE THIS TO ME. QUICKBOOKS PRACTICES ARE EXTREMELY ILLEAL.
I am tired of QuickBooks holing me hostage. I can't do my 1 QTR return because QuickBooks is FORCING ME TO RENEW WHEN I ACTUALLY HAVE ONE MORE MONTH. I CAN'T BELIEVE IN THE USA BUSINESS CAN DO THIS???
I ABSOLUTELY HATE QUICKBOOKS, PERIOD. INTUIT HAS TURNED ON US. IT IS NOW A GROUP OF INSIDIOUS MONSTERS REAVING AND RAPING WITH NO CONCERN FOR THE PRIVACY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS, OUT OF PURE GREED. I STOPPED PAYING FOR THE RIP OFF 3-YEAR UPGRADES TO THE DESKTOP PROGRAM, TERMINATED ONLINE PAYROLL AND COMPANY TAX FILINGS OVER THE PAST YEAR. NOW THIS PACK OF JACKALS DEMANDS LOG ONTO MY OLD QB WEB ACCOUNT JUST TO SEND A PRICE ESTIMATE FROM MY OWN DESKTOP QB, ON MY OWN PC, THROUGH MY OWN THUNDERBIRD, AND PRIVATE BUSINESS EMAIL ACCOUNT, TO A PRIVATE CUSTOMER!!! WTF BUSINESS IS OF QB TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS TRANSACTION!?!?!?!?!?! WHICH MEANS SINCE I MUST BE CONNECTED TO FKG QB TO DO IT, THEY HAVE OPEN ACCESS TO THE ENTIRE PRIVATE EMAIL INCLUDING NOT JUST MY PRIVATE INFO BUT NOW ALL OF MY CUSTOMERS EMAIL, AND EVERY BIT AND BYTE ON THE GD QB SOFTWARE. AND THEN HOW DO YOU LOG OFF??? THERE'S NO <LOG OFF> ICON, NOW IS THERE? I HATE QUICKBOOKS, AND EVERY PERSON WHO WORKS FOR THEM. YOU ARE THE ENEMY.
