I would like to be part of a class action suit also. They disabled my 2018 and won’t let it open at all. They keep disabling payroll in my 2021 because it keeps coming up and saying I have to log in by 5/27/22 which is long in the past. It won’t update this date no matter how many times I update it. I’ve been on support 3 times trying to get this fixed! Why can they just disable payroll that I’ve paid for? I should get paid for the time it takes for me to manually prepare checks! I definitely want to be part of a lawsuit!!

- So is there still the option to manually import the web data file about BSG Game Help, or have you just disabled the entire feature? I can't imagine that this will be a popular move for any of your customer base...I know that I'm planning to downgrade to an earlier version of quickbooks (back as far as I have to go to find a version that you can't go in and disable), but I thought I would ask.
If I sold a customer a car in 2018, but 2 years later went to their house, yanked out the engine, and left a note saying "Thank you for being a loyal customer. We have removed the engine to your car because I want you to buy a new car. Now here's the GREAT thing, we no longer SELL cars, you have to rent the new car from us. It's a REALLY GOOD thing that you have to pay me every month. Paying me every month will keep me from doing things like, for example, removing the engine from the car you already owned."
I also got in trouble due to this issue in Quickbook. Although i have small business and unable to understand how intuit help in small industry by doing such tactics.

What surprises most software users is that, as it turns out, Intuit and most other software companies don't actually sell software. They license it. You don't actually own it. You have a license to use it, subject to the whims of the publisher. It's more like leasing a car than owning one.
I have QuickBooks 2021 and I am asked to upgrade for the bank feeds to work. It sounds like a ransomware tactic for $700.00 to get my bank feeds back. Can't do a web connect file ether. That is there only solution. I only have maybe 50 items in bank feeds so I can do it manually. I am going to start with BBB but don't know where to go from there.
Who asked you to upgrade your QBD 2021? They are still supporting QBD 2021 until May 2024 to run the bank feed feature.
I called tec support and was told that it was bank feed after going through all diagnostic with tool hub. I called the bank and they setup a dummy company and it would import with no problem. I called QuickBooks tec support and they told me that my QuickBooks was out of date and the new version would correct the problem. He said it would be about $700. I have 2021 and usually upgrade every two years but not at 7 or 8 hundred dollars.
Thanks for joining the thread, @BPK. I'm glad that you didn't pay those amounts, and I'm here to help you with your bank transactions.
As mentioned by our Community backer Fiat Lux - ASIA, your QuickBooks Desktop 2021 is still supporting bank feed until May 2024. To isolate this, let's run the Verify/Rebuild Utility Tools which often detect and resolve any data issues within the company file.
Follow the steps below:
To run the verify utility:
To run the rebuild utility:
Close and re-open the company file then log in as the company Admin. That should help get past the hurdle you're experiencing.
Also, make sure to update QuickBooks 2021 to its latest release to ensure it has the correct compliance information. See this article for more information: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
Once done, connect your bank feed again. Then, check if you can do the WebConnect (.qbo File). For complete step see this reference: Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop. It also contains links on how to download and match bank feed transactions.
Additionally, you can read through these articles on how to fix import errors and match your accounts in QBDT:

I have a copy of QuickBooks desktop pro +2022 I was told that it will expire in January and I need to pay $500 to continue using it. This means my hard earned data in the program will stop working unless I pay a ransom. What’s the difference between that and 2021?
There are some decent options out there
If you work alone on a PC/Mac and just need basic features without any online services or an internet connection, I can recommend a free accounting app to explore.
Hi there, @Dallgal. I'll be happy to discuss the difference between QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and QBDT 2021.
To begin, know that QBDT 2022 uses 64-bit advanced processing power. That said, its latest program lets the user utilize the full capabilities of the program. It also improves the performance and stability of the program. On the other hand, the QBDT 2021 only uses 32-bit processing power. Although older than the 2022 version, it can still help you get the job done.

Also, I'd like to add that each QuickBooks Desktop program has a three-year lifespan only. That said, once you've reached your 3rd year using the program, it'll expire, but you can still access your data. You can also perform basic tasks within that expired program. However, you won't be able to perform tasks that require the use of the internet, like processing payroll and other things you used to do.
Additionally, I've got you these articles to help you handle your hard-earned data in QBDT:

It is my understanding that on my one year anniversary date, my data will be held hostage for $500. Getting a subscription one year ago for DESKTOP at $250 was it huge stretch, but this is undoable. An interesting way for a company to reward decades long loyal customers.
I have QuickBooks 2022 desktop pro plus.
Hello, @Dallgal.
I'm grateful for choosing one of our QuickBooks plan to organize your business finances. I'm here to share about the promotions that QuickBooks offers.
Usually, prices constantly change when QuickBooks Desktop is at a discount rate. So, this notifies us when a plan is available at a reduced price due to special offers.
It also means that this is a limited-time offer which is a kind of deal, gift, or reward to a buyer if they can receive a purchase from you during a specific period. After that, it will go back to its original price.
You might want to see this pricelist for QuickBooks Desktop Pro: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/ca/desktop/pro/.
Furthermore, you also call the support team if you need to clarify the annual cost difference.

I downloaded transactions 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. This week I started to download bank transactions and a popup told me to there was updates for QuickBooks. I backed up QB and installed the new files. I tried to do bank transactions and it wouldn't go through. Then I tried verifying data and said nothing was wrong. I did a restore but same thing. Next, I called tech support, and they ran me through tool hub, and nothing helped. Next, I called bank and they setup a dummy company and it worked. I called back QB and was told my QB was out of date and would have to upgrade or it couldn't be fixed. He was talking to someone while I was on hold for 5 or 10 minutes. After that he said I would have to update if I wanted to download from bank and said he would guarantee it would fix it. I have gone through all items and read and tried all items with nothing. When I hit the button that says download transactions it says no messages to send.
I can see that you did everything you could, @BPK. I want to ensure this will be taken care of.
Thanks for getting back here and providing the steps you've performed as well as the outcome. Since you're still unable to get transactions in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account, I highly recommend contacting our Technical Support team again. This is to further investigate what causes the issue and provide additional steps to resolve it. Once connected, you can request a screen-share session so they can further review your set up.
On the other hand, you can manually upload bank transactions to your account via .QBO file. For a detailed guide, check out this article: Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.
I've also added this helpful resource that you can use as a reference in categorizing your bank transactions in QBDT: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please know that you can always post back here in the Community if you have other QBDT concerns. I'm just around the corner to help. Have a good one and take care.

Which QB Desktop year version do you run?
I found the problem, there was a closed bank account and when I took it offline everything worked fine. I am still concerned when 2024 arrives it will no longer work. I am not going to pay the amount they want to upgrade. $300 was bad enough. I guess they don't need the small customer anymore or small business anymore.
I have been using QuickBook Desktop since 1995. I am a independent bookkeeper and have 18 companies that I work with. I always insisted that I would only run QuickBooks. Generally each year, I would purchase a current Desktop QuickBooks Pro. And since I work with so many companies I would purchase several of the products that always included 1 year of payroll. I would do this because it was cost effective and cheaper than renewing payroll. In 2021/2022, it no longer was cost effective to buy the newest version opting to renew payroll.
So I have 3 licenses now for 2021 Quickbooks and chose not to renew the subscription. I am not able to import QBO files manually and now being told that even though payroll was renewed and valid until May of 2023, I will not have access to even run it.
I have spent hours on the phone and in chat. Everyone pushing to renew the $575 subscription, but further more pushing me to switch to the online version. (By the way, runs nothing like desktop and personally hate it.)
The solution they offered to day, just purchase 1 new subscription and run all of my clients under 1 license. However, they really could not confirm if my payroll subscriptions will transfer properly or if the merchant account will work. I guess I will try it.
I am on board with anyone who wants to file a class action against Intuit.
I am currently seeking a new software company that can provide me with the software I need. I am open for suggestions or referrals.

If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your books and only need basic features, you should explore this free program. You can use the program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.
Then to pay your bills for free by ACH, you can signup a Melio account for free.

Thank you for the suggestion. Do you know if this product offers payroll and Merchant accounts for Credit Cards.
I wonder if there is a lawsuit against QuickBooks because of forced subscription. I would definitely join.

Why should we have to buy yet another program, when we've already paid good money for what we are using now. We should be able to continue to use what we purchased, even if it is without the "award winning customer support" That's a joke! I am paying the "VIP" prices and can NEVER access anyone who knows how to help with the simplest issues. I spend hours and hours studying and self-teaching for something I've paid good money to have that "expert" level of assistance.
If there is a lawsuit for this mishap of justice, I want to join in!
I have been a Quickbooks desktop user for over 25 years. I feel like Intuit pulled one over on me with the 2021 pro purchase. I don't use many things in quickbooks and was quite happy with desktop service. I had control.
Then I was locked out of my QB until I paid a $549 subscription. I don't need or want most of the things in the subscription. Shame on Intuit for being so sneaky. The worst is that they give you no control over what you are subscribing for. Then they keep pushing quickbooks online, which has always been lacking for my needs. I encountered an issue in January 2023 (one month after paying for the forced subscription. The issue cause a great deal of problems for my small business and has taken 2 months for intuit to fix the issue. Customer service was a nightmare during the process and I had to spend a lot of time and energy to come up with a work around. But hey, Intuit got their money so what do they care?
Intuit, if you actually care, I don't want a subscription. I want a desktop version that I can use my way without interference from you.
