I appreciate you getting back here in the thread, @Hieu Le Tran. I'm chiming in to share shed some light about upgrading QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription.

Please be aware to upgrade your subscription from QuickBooks Online Plus to QBO Advanced, you need to be the Company admin of the company file. You can consider sending a request to your Primary admin to change your role in the company file to get through this and upgrade your subscription.

Once done, follow these steps to upgrade:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select the Account and settings.
  2. Click the Billing & Subscription tab.
  3. In the QuickBooks Online section, click on Upgrade your plan.
  4. Click on Choose plan for QuickBooks Online Advanced.
  5. Follow the prompts to finish upgrading your plan.

You can also consider reaching out to our Customer Care. They can help you with the process so you can proceed to use QuickBooks Online Advance as soon as possible. To contact, here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Select either tab to get started:
  • Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
  • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.

In addition, feel free to visit this page to see the list of available features in QuickBooks Online Advanced: QBO Advanced features.

Appreciate the timely update, @Hieu Le.

I'll share info about your report in QuickBooks Online to find and display the field named vendor code.

Before we begin, may I know how you created the Vendor Code field? Is it a custom field created for your vendor transaction or is a field link to the profile of your vendor?

Nevertheless, here's how you can customize the Vendor Contact List report to include a certain field and remove some of the unused columns:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Enter Vendor Contact List in the Search text area.
  3. Open the report displayed in the suggestion.
  4. Select Customize.
  5. Under Rows/Columns, put a checkmark on the selection for the field in question.
  6. Click Run report.

Kindly read and use this article to learn more about customizing any of your reports: Customize Reports in QuickBooks Online.

Now that you're able to customize any report, here's an article you can use to determine how a report is used to display your vendors' activity and specific expense transactions: Common Custom Reports in QuickBooks Online. Here, you can also compare your income and expense to identify the status of your finances.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below and don't forget to include my name, @JonpriL, in your reply. I'll be around and ready to lend a helping hand. Take care always, @Hieu Le!

Thank you for responding quickly and sending a screenshot, @Hieu Le Tran.

I'm here to help you with finding the vendor code field.

You can see the Vendor Code from the Gear icon of the report that you're trying to generate. Check out the screenshot below:

This vendor code is a custom field that I've added from the Vendor details page. Follow the steps below to check if you've added this option:

  1. Go to the Expenses page and then click the Vendors menu.
  2. Select the vendor and go to the Vendor Details tab.
  3. Scroll down and look for the Custom Fields section and check if you've added this field.

For more information about adding a custom field and using it with your vendors and customers, check out this article: Create and edit custom fields in QuickBooks Online Advanced.

To guide you further on how to add that custom field as a column to your report, refer to this article: Use custom fields in reports in QuickBooks Online Advanced. That'll guide you on how to sort, group and filter items in your report.

From here, you can save that report so you can run the same report in the future. See this article on how to do it: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

I'm always here if you need more help in customizing your report or finding the Vendor code field. Keep safe and have a wonderful day!

Thank you for coming back to the Community, Hieu Le Tran.

To ensure a timely solution to your concern, I have to gather more details on what you’re experiencing? May I know if you’re using QuickBooks Online Plus or the Advanced version? Did you add the vendor code field in the Custom Fields screen? Can provide some screenshots of the field and how you set it up in QuickBooks Online (QBO)? Make sure to grey out the personal information.

Feel free to click the Reply button below to add your comment. I’m looking forward to your response.

Thanks for coming back, @Hieu Le Tran.

I've replicated this one on our end using the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced version, and the Vendor code column shows on the report after being added as a custom field from the Vendor details page. Just refer to the screenshot below:

You can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Expenses page.
  2. Choose Vendors.
  3. Select a vendor name.
  4. Tap Edit
  5. Click the Custom field section.
  6. Tap the + Add custom field link.
  7. Enter a name and choose Number on the Data Type field.
  8. For the Category, choose Vendor. Then, select some forms to apply the custom field.
  9. Press Save

Here's an article you can refer to for more details about creating and editing custom fields in QuickBooks Online Advanced. If the same thing happens, we can perform some basic troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue. At times, the accumulated cache in your browser causes odd behavior when running a report. Start by accessing your account in a private or incognito window. Just refer to the shortcut keys I've listed below:

  • Ctrl Shift for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift for Firefox & Microsoft Edge
  • Command Shift for Safari

If it works, go back to your regular browser and then clear its cache and cookies to start over fresh. Alternatively, you can switch to other supported browsers.

Feel free to visit our Reports page for more insights about managing your financial reports in QuickBooks.

You can always update us on the result after performing the recommended solutions as I'd like to ensure this is resolved for you. Just leave a comment below and I'll get back to you. Have a great day ahead.

Hi Quickbooks team, We are searching the field "Vendor code" but can not, could you double check and advise? My user : Hieu Le

I appreciate you getting back to us and following the guidelines provided by my peer above, @Hieu Le Tran.

Allow me to share additional information about adding custom fields in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The Custom Fields feature is only available in the Advanced version of QBO. It seems that you're using the Plus version, you'll want to consider upgrading your QBO to the Advanced version to utilize the feature.

Once you're ready to upgrade your subscription, you can follow the detailed steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account as an admin user.
  2. Click the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  3. Go to the Billing & Subscription menu.
  4. In the QuickBooks Online section, select Upgrade your plan.
  5. Choose the Advanced plan.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade.

After upgrading, you can now utilize the Custom Fields feature. This lets you track the information that matters most to you and your vendors.

Come back to this post if you need further information regarding the custom fields feature. I'm still open to your replies, @Hieu Le Tran.
