Hi there, @cipgifts.
Since you were unable to see the control panel, I recommend closing the browser and opening it again and open your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. If this doesn't fix the issue, use a supported browser. I suggest Firefox.
Besides, use a private browser. This way, cookies are disabled to prevent sites from submitting internet files, which interrupts internet connection.
Open a supported browser and use these keyboard shortcuts:
Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
Intrnet Explorer: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
If this fixes the bug, clear the browser's cache. Computer cache stores pieces of data that appear on the browser that causes insignificant changes to applications like QuickBooks Online (QBO). Clearing it boosts browsers performance and loads new data.
Should have to know something, search helpful articles and videos in our Community about QBO navigation: QuickBooks Help.
Don't hesitate to leave a query on this thread if there's anything else. I'm always at your back to help you. Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you - opening a window incognito worked. I sure wish they had a big "sign out" on the screen versus searching the menu system for it. It's critical that I always sign out - this is the only system with access to my finances where they make the sign out "hidden" in menu.
Thanks for getting back, cipgifts.
We can easily locate the Sign out option on the Gear icon. I suggest performing the same troubleshooting steps suggested above if you weren't able to see it again.
I understand the importance of logging out to your account. We are always open for feedback to make QuickBooks more user-friendly. I'll also forward your suggestion to our developers to have a sign out button on the dashboard.
Also, you can always check our Help page for additional articles to guide you more on how to manage your account.
I'll be right here if you need additional assistance. Have a great day!
the gear icon is not there for me either. this update is flawed for smaller screens,
Thank you for getting help with signing out of your QuickBooks company, 90991!
Alex's answer was applicable to the old interface. I can point you to the section where you can find the Sign out button in the new interface. To sign out, you'll want to click your profile picture or avatar beside the Gear icon and select Sign out, as shown in the screenshot.
On the other hand, you can adjust the display on your webpage to better see the fonts. If you're on a Windows computer, just press the Ctrl and the + (plus) keys to zoom in on a page, and press the Command and the + (plus) keys if you're using Mac.
If you like reading articles, we have references for QuickBooks Online on the main support page. Just scroll down a bit and click More topics.
I'm just around if you need more help with finding buttons or anything about QuickBooks. Take care and enjoy the rest of the day!
