Thanks for sharing your concern in the QuickBooks Community page, @danny38.
The option to resize columns in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is still available.
All you have to do is click the line column and hold the left click button then drag it. This way, you'll be able to adjust its width.
If you're unable to do it in your account, then we can run some basic troubleshooting steps. Sometimes too much cache build-up in a browser can cause unexpected behavior with the product. This can be the reason why you can't resize the columns.
To start, open your account in a private window so we can isolate the issue and verify if it's browser-related. Simply press the following shortcut keys to open this mode:
Once done, try resizing again the QTY, RATE, and AMOUNT columns. If you're able to successfully adjust its size, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache.
If you're still getting a similar result, use another supported browser. This might be a temporary issue with your current browser and QuickBooks.
Moreover, you can check out this article for additional references on how to record invoices in QuickBooks: How to create, send, and review invoices in QBO.

Hi there, @danny38>
Hope you’re doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about the column concern you had the other day. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification?
If you do, just let me know. I’d be happy to help you at anytime. Looking forward to your reply.
Have a pleasant day ahead!
I want to narrow the columns in QB Online so that I'm not scrolling back and forth to see data on a page. I'm able to widen the columns, but not make them more narrow. I tried your cache clearing suggestion with no improvement.
I'd even like to be able to delete a column easily but I can't figure out how to do that either. I could easily perform both actions in QB Desktop, but am at a loss of how to make QB Online work for me.
Sure would appreciate some help with this.
Elizabeth
Hi there, Elizabeth.
In QuickBooks Online, you can alter the width of the invoice columns by dragging their corner. Currently, the option to make the columns more narrow and delete them is unavailable.
I understand that you need these customizations to better manage your invoices. To help improve your experience in the program, I'd recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. Here's how:

Thanks for the message. I have submitted feedback as many, many other QB Online users have . It's the reporting that is so awkward. I print a P & L report and the Item names are all the way to the left and the totals are all the way to the right. I have to draw lines across the page to make sure I'm matching up the right item with the right total. That seems like a sad waste of time. Since it worked in Desktop, I can't figure out why they won't fix it in Online. Sigh.....
I know this post is old. I've read many articles and none of the fixes suggested actually do anything. When I am looking at a screen in QB, often there's a ton of wasted real estate that could be used to see all the data. I know how to drag a column wide to make it wider or smaller, but it does not work in QB online. For example, I am looking in customer file and want to be able to see everything (all columns) on my screen. I see some of the columns are too wide and changing them would allow me to see more data, but there is no way to change them. This question is not about reports, it's about what I see on the screen. This isn't a cache issue either. Any help is welcome. If this simple function isn't available in the software I would suggest that it be a high priority fix.
Hi, @SusiePSTL.
I understand the importance of being able to change the length and height of a website interface. It allows you to customize the display according to your preferences and needs.
Currently, the ability to do that is unavailable. Please know our product engineer updates regularly to improve the functionality of our product.
For now, I recommend sending feedback about the function to change the length and height of a website interface. We also make updates depending on our customer's feedback. Here's how:
