Let me help you share some information about reconciling your account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), kmiller2.

The option to edit the data on the reconciliation report is unavailable. What we can do is un-reconcile your transactions. Then, reconcile them back to get a new report. Keep in mind, even small changes can unbalance your accounts. To minimize the impact, we can only unreconciled one transaction at a time. If you need to completely start over, I'd suggest reaching out to your accountant since they have a tool to undo everything in one go.

Unreconciling your transactions mean replacing the (reconciled) mark with (cleared) or blank. You'll want to do this to all transactions within the period covered in the report. When you know which transaction you need to change, here's how to edit and unreconciled the transaction:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu, then select Chart of Accounts under Your Company
  2. Select the account you're working on, and click on View Register.
  3. Choose the transactions you want to unreconcile.
  4. Keep on clicking the status until it shows blank or cleared (C).
  5. Click Save.
  6. Close the account register.

Here's an article you can refer to for more details about undoing and removing transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online. This isn't answering the question asked above. She needs the ENDING DATE changed as she typed in the wrong year. It's not a transaction within the reconciliation. It the actual date you type in when asked to enter the ending date.  What are the options to fix appropriately to the question she asked? I have found that 6 other people have asked this with answers on how to edit a transaction with the reconciliation which is not what anyone is asking for.

I appreciate you chiming in here today, Tchic0195. I'd gladly share additional information on this thread to help undo reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

When reconciling your account, let's ensure all data entered on the transaction and the reconciliation page are well-reviewed and accurate. I'd suggest consulting your accounting professional to seek further guidance in undoing reconciled accounts.

Also, if you've invited your accountant to your QuickBooks company and is using a QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) subscription, they can use the Undo Reconciliation tool available in this plan. Before doing so, you'll want to consider downloading any attachments tied to the reconciliation. Since undoing them deletes all existing attachments.

To begin:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and click Reconcile under the Tools column.
  2. On the Reconcile an Account page, select History by Account.
  3. On the History by Account page, click the Account and Report period to locate the reconciliation to undo.
  4. Choose Undo on the Action column, then Yes.
  5. In the final confirmation window, select Undo and click OK.

However, you'll need to manually edit each transaction to undo the reconciliation if you're not using QBOA.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts under Your Company column.
  2. Locate the appropriate account for the transaction and select View Register in the Action column.
  3. Identify the transaction to edit.
  4. In the reconcile status column (indicated by a checkmark), repeatedly click the top line of the transaction to change the status, then Save.
  • - Cleared.
  • - Reconciled.
  • Blank - Not cleared or reconciled.

So let me get this straight...to undo a reconciliation report if I am not an accountant, I have to go back to the register and change ALL of the R to C and start over? Are you kidding me? I used QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise edition for 22 years. All I had to do we click Undo and I could go back and make any corrections. This is ridiculous and a complete waste of time. I hope I am reading this wrong.

All I am trying to fix is the reconciliation date. Somehow the program assigned 2024 to the report. We are in 2023 and ALL of the transactions are correctly dated. Surely there is an easier way to correct this. ???

Hello there. I'm joining to provide details and help you modify the reconciliation date inside QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before anything else, please know that QBO and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) have different interfaces. One is web-based, while the other is a desktop application. If you don't have an accountant in QBO, know you'll have to manually undo reconciliation for each transaction and then reconcile the account with the correct date added. This way, it shows you the data you need when you run a reconciliation report for a specific period.

For more details, please see this page: Undo or remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

To make it easier to correct the reconciliation date, you'll want to reach out to your accountant since they're the only ones who can undo all transactions at once. They can also correct the date, so you won't have to do it manually. However, if don't have an accountant, you may check this page to get one: Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

In addition, we recommend checking these articles to help you correct reconciliation and know more about how to modify a report:

Different interfaces??? No kidding. I fully understand how to correct my error in QB Enterprise. For 20+ years I have been able to make corrections without the assistance of my accountant. Telling me I have to have him undo the reconciliation for me just to change the date on the report is not good news. I need this fixed now, so I can continue to close out the year. It is Sunday and my accountant is not available at the moment.

I so miss QB Enterprise. This online "APP" is a watered-down version for beginners. It is so limiting, I think I need to start looking for another solution.
