There is no feature limitation using the Essentials trial version. With this, you can still create a journal entry in the program, @rodney4.
We have improved the features in QuickBooks Online (QBO). The default user view is set to business view, and this is the reason you're unable to see the Journal entry option in the + New menu.
Let's change the user view from Business View to Accountant View so you can create a journal entry. I'll show you how.
The screenshot below shows you the last five steps.
After that, go back to the + New button and you'll be able to see Journal entry under Other. See the screenshot below for your visual reference. For detailed instructions, go through this article: Enter Journal Entries.
Once done, you can run the Journal report from the Reports menu. This lets you view all your journal entries created within a specific period. For more details on how to customize and print the report, check out this article: Journal Entry Report.

There is no feature limitation in trial period. Try open you account on private/incognito browser.
Thank you so much. I had watched 3 separate YouTube videos about journal entries and not one person mentioned that you needed to be in Accountant mode.
