Hello lisabonta!

QuickBooks Self-Employed only supports two users. Let me explain.

Aside from you as the primary owner of the account, we can only add accountant access. This means QuickBooks Self-Employed is unable to add another user for the bookkeeper.

You'll want to upgrade your plan to QuickBooks Online so you can add more users and you'll have more accounting features. You can find the steps on how to switch and the link for the QuickBooks Online plans through this article: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online. This includes the instructions on how to export the data and cancel your existing QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription to avoid double charges.

I'll be right here if you need more assistance with this. Thanks!

@lisabonta

Consider switching to QBO Essentials for your case.

Hi, @S-C-R-S-P.

I've got some insights you need about managing your accountants in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If your accountant can't accept the invite, here are some workarounds to fix this issue.

Double-check the sign-in information to ensure that your client sent the invite to the correct email address associated with your user ID. Here's how:

  1. Open the invite email.
  2. Click Accept Invitation.
  3. Sign in with your existing user ID and password.

After completing the necessary steps, if you have any other QuickBooks companies open in browser windows or tabs, please sign out from them. Then, try to accept the invitation again. If you are still unable to connect, there might be a web browser issue. In that case, open the invitation manually. I'll show you how:

  1. Open the invite email.
  2. Right-click the Accept Invitation link and copy the web address.
  3. Open a new private web browser. In Google Chrome, this is called an Incognito window. For other browsers, it's a Private window or Private browser.
  4. Right-click the address bar and paste the copied web address.

This opens the sign-in page manually. Enter the user ID and password you use for your QuickBooks Online Accountant firm.

If the issue persists, follow Step 3 in this article to ask your client to cancel the invite: What to do if you can't accept client invites in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

If they're still unable to receive it, your accountant may want to check the  Spam or Junk folders. There are instances that the email is recognized as spam or blocked from going to the inbox.

In addition, this guide can help you in adding or removing your accountant in QBSE: Invite an accountant to review your books in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I’m always ready to assist you if you have any other questions or concerns about managing your books or accounts. Tag me in your reply and I’ll sprint back into action. Have a good one, and keep safe.
