I need my standard user to be able to access apps without making them an Admin.

I attempted to ask QB, but they are often not helpful. I have a standard Accounts Receivable User that I need to be able to access our DocuSend app to send invoices to Customers. Has anyone been able to do this?

They wanted me to add the user as an Accounting Firm (which gives them admin access).

I'd like to answer your question about permissions in QBO, rika-hartvickso.

At the moment, standard users can only access the customers and vendors section in QuickBooks Online. This is the reason why the previous representative suggested changing the type to an accountant to provide access to DocuSend.

Additional details about user access are discussed here:

We welcome all customer feedback and suggestions to help us improve the experience when using the program. Let me share these steps on how you can send them in QBO.

  1. Go to the Gear icon in the upper-right-hand corner and choose Feedback.
  2. Type in your suggestions and product feedback about user permissions when using third-party apps.
  3. Click Next to submit them.

Our Product Development team will review all customer inputs when making new features and enhancements. You can also visit this site to track all feature requests: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests.

Let me know if that's all the information you need about user access. I will be happy to get back here if you have follow-up questions.

Doesn't adding an Accounting Firm (accountant) as support was suggesting, give them admin access?

They can add the user as an Accounting firm, erika-hartvickso.

An accountant will have full access to your QuickBooks Online company. We also provide accountant-specific tools to help you prepare for taxes.

Here's how to invite an accountant to review your books, make corrections, and collaborate on any issues.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
  2. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Manage users.
  3. Select the Accounting firms tab, then click Invite.
  4. Enter your accountant's info and select Save.

Your accountant receives an email with steps for how to connect. If they don’t have QuickBooks Online Accountant, there's a link on how to sign up. Accountant users have privileges to undo reconciliations, reclassify transactions, and write off invoices.

Invite up to two accountants in QuickBooks Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and up to three in QuickBooks Advanced. Please know that regular accountant users don't count toward your user limit. They’ll count if you make them your company’s primary admin.
