Intuit Account Security Problem

I do computer support for multiple companies and have my own Intuit Account.

I have Company S which made me an authorized user on their Intuit Account years ago. I can see my name in their list of Authorized Users.

Company G recently made me an authorized user on their Intuit Account. Since doing this, Company G has access to the Intuit Account of both Company S and Company G. When Company G switches over to Company S, it shows (me) next to my email address in Authorized Users even though they are logged in as [email address removed].

When I am signed in as my email, I don't see Company G or Company S.

I contacted Intuit support several time now and they explained that this was all normal and expected.

In order to make this issue go away, I signed into the Intuit account of Company S, but ran into a different issue. [email address removed] is listed as both the primary contact and as an Authorized User.  The (me) is next to the Authorized User.  I can't make any security changes since it is not the Primary Contact account, even though the email is correct.

I consider this a pretty serious security problem on the Intuit side, but support doesn't see it that way. I am not sure what to do from here. Company S is not happy that Company G can see their account information. Intuit doesn't care. What do I do from here?

Intuit Account Security Problem

Hi there, @DeanSil.

Do you see Company G as an authorized user for Company S when signing in to your Intuit account? Authorized users are individuals who have access to the company's account information. To remove a user from the list, log in to My Account (CAMPS) as a primary admin.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to My Account. (If you need help signing in, please see the My Account: Login help article.)
  2. On the Manage your QuickBooks page, select the product or service you would like to manage.
  3. At the upper right, check if you are opening the correct account.
  4. Scroll down to the Authorized Users section.
  5. From the list of contacts, choose the name of the user you need to delete or remove.
  6. At the bottom of the user's Contact Info, click Remove User.
  7. In the confirmation window, click Remove.

For your reference, check out this guide: Add, edit, and remove authorized user in My Account (CAMPS).

Keep me posted on how these steps turn out. I want to make sure everything is taken care of.

Intuit Account Security Problem

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it.

I am going to try to add some clarity and hope that you can confirm what I should do.

I am [email address removed].

Company G has [email address removed] as a primary user and [email address removed] as an Authorized User.

Company S has [email address removed] as a primary user and as an Authorized User. [email address removed] as an Authorized user. When [email address removed] is signed in, the (me) shows up next to the Authorized User rather than the primary.

When user@companyG is logged in, they have access to CompanyS. When the access it, the (me) is next to [email address removed].

I am unable to remove [email address removed] from CompanyS as we can't get authenticated as a Primary User. I don't have access anyway.  When logged in as [email address removed], I don't see Company S or Company G.

I am hoping to connect with [email address removed] to remove [email address removed] from Company G, although I don't expect that will help.

I have a feeling that I need to remove [email address removed] from Company S even though that doesn't make sense to me. Unfortunately, it sees [email address removed] as an Authorized rather than Primary.

Intuit Account Security Problem

Thanks for getting back with the Community, DeanSil.

Since there's an invalid primary admin/contact on some of these accounts, I'd recommend sending a request to update their information.

Here's how:

  1. Gather the necessary documents for your request. Review our Request to be the primary admin or contact article to identify which specific documentation Intuit will need to verify that you have rightful ownership of the account.
  2. Sign in to your Intuit Account. If necessary, create one, then log in to it.
  3. Complete Intuit's account change request form.

After submitting your request, it will be reviewed as soon as possible. You'll receive an email with its status when Intuit's review is complete.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a great day!
