I am converting from QBP 2013 to QB Desktop 2020 for Mac. When setting up backup function, I have unchecked the overwrite previous copy option. How do I set the number of backup copies to be saved? I only want 3 previous backups kept, not an infinite number of them.
Hello there, @Lucria.
I've checked that you've posted the same question twice and my colleague MaryLurleenM has already added an answer. If you haven't notified with the new response, here's the link https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/account-management/open-recent-list-not-showing-co...
Please let me know if you have any other concerns or issues, and I'll get back to you right away. I'm always here to answer them. Have a good day!
I have the same issue. I only want to save three backups. I still haven't found a way to do that. I have QB Pro 2017 on my home Windows PC and it was easy. Can't figure it out on this 2020 MAC version.
Let me provide some information when backing up files in QuickBooks for Mac, LWBIII.
The purpose of saving a backup is to create a copy of data that can be recovered in the event of a primary data failure. You can schedule an automatic backup for your company file using QuickBooks for Mac. For now, you can only do a manual backup by unticking the Automatically back up company files when closing option, so you'll have the choice of how many times you want to save a backup. I've added a screenshot for your guide:
Once done, you can now start the manual backup. Here's how:
On the other hand, you might also try upgrading the most recent macOS if you'll encounter issues when backing up your company file. Please see this article for your reference: BackUp Fails With QuickBooks Desktop For Mack And Big Sur.

That link you posted has nothing to do with "number of backup copies saved" -- it's about "Open Recent".
How about an answer to the question: how to set/limit the number of backup copies that are saved?
thanks...jon
Having the ability to set a limit of backup copies in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is a great functionality, jesii7.
As of now, this option is only available in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows. I can see how this feature streamlines the backup management process, making it more efficient and less prone to clutter, thereby enhancing the overall user experience.
With this, I encourage sending feedback directly to our Product Development team. Your voice is important as it contributes to product improvement, issue resolution, and user experience enhancement, and ultimately leading to a better software experience for all users.
