Parent Accounts

How can I make it so that no transactions are posted to a parent account?  I only want transactions to be posted to the lowest level sub-account.

We recently had transactions posted to "Bank Accounts" account which is a parent account rather than to the specific bank sub account.  I would love to be able to turn off the ability to post to the parent account.

I wish you could but you can not restrict a parent account in any way.

All you can do is designate the correct account, either when making a deposit/withdrawal or when you download banking

Thank you!

Sure would be nice if they considered adding this feature.

I also have wished to disable GL Parent Account posting for a long time! Please implement this feature! I want to use Parent Accounts solely as an organization tool and header in our Chart of Accounts, not an active GL account to use for transactional purposes. Thank you!

I can help you make anything possible in QuickBooks, Daniel. Your satisfaction means everything to us.

Using parent accounts solely as an organization tool and header in the Chart of Accounts makes it very beneficial for you and other companies. With this, I'll route you to the page where you can post feature requests to our product engineers. It enables our engineers to develop a solution to enhance your overall QuickBooks experience.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the upper right pane
  2. Select Feedback
  3. Type your suggestion in the box and click Next

Many of the program's current features are available because of user feedback. Also, QuickBooks has a website where you can vote on and provide comments on any future suggestions. To access the page, visit this link: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks.

I'd be happy to listen and help if there are other problems with your account. Please leave that in the comment section below, and I'll get you back shortly. Be safe, Daniel.
