After my Mac computer was updated to Sonoma 14.0, QB also got upgraded to the 2021 version. Somehow after restoring several different backups, the accounts are not all showing up and all of my income information is completely missing from all of the years. The expense accounts are also not showing up fully either. I am not sure how to restore my files to full use. Any advice?
How big is the file size?
Have you tried the Verify/Rebuild Data utility? If the same error persists, install the trial version of QB Desktop 2022. Did you encounter the same problem?
The file is 34.1 MB. I only followed the steps in restoring the backup file, but when I opened QB initially it asked me to change my PW. It seems like something happened after that and I can't access the backup file with my old password and now it connects me to an account that has partial files and entries from 2021. It's not current at all. My latest backup is from June 2023, but it's not pulling up all the information from that backup file. I am not sure how Verify/Rebuild Data
Hi there, CDem.
You may have encountered missing data due to the password issue. To fix this, I recommend opening the backup and resetting your password. Then, restore the file.
When restoring, follow the steps:

If the issue persists, verify and rebuild your data in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. The tool scans data issues within the company file and self-resolves them.

Your file size is small. Most likely you have more than one version of the backup file.
I can't access the backup file with my old password
Try reset the password. Last resort, purchase a 3rd party password removal service.
Thank you, I rest the PW for the different backup files. I tried to open two from June, but it directly goes back to the old files from 2021 entries with a lot of missing information. I also ran the verify and rebuild option and it's showing that everything is ok with the backup.
Should I reinstall QB and see if the file might get opened?
It looks like all the data is in the file when I click to run an account report or profit and loss repost. However, when I click on accounts, the income is not showing up under the balance and when I click on the account it gives me only the option to view It as a report without any way to input new data. Perhaps some settings got turned off during the upgrade? Would you happen to know what it might be?

I'm confused by your statement. QB files are independent of each other. When you try to open one file, it will not trigger the opening of another company file. I'm not sure reinstalling your QBD program will solve this problem. Consider moving each company file to a new folder after you open and examine your data if you manage many company files.
