Service Item is Mapping to a Different Income Account

I have been forced to use QBOA.

I have set up a service, "Donations" which I've mapped to an income account "Donations directed by Individuals".  These transactions are coming up in my P&L under "Corporate Sponsorships".  WHY?!?!!!

It's so frustrating.  I don't know how to fix this without having to make an additional journal entry to correct the mapping error.  Any thoughts?

Shirley
Thanks in advance,

Service Item is Mapping to a Different Income Account

Let’s work together to ensure your service item is accurately mapped to the correct income account, Shirley.

To start, I recommend checking the setup of your service item on the Products and Services page to ensure it is correctly mapped to the desired income account. Here’s how you can do that:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then Products and Services.
  2. Search for the service item in the list and click Edit in the ACTION column.

  3. Review the item setup and make edits if necessary.

If everything looks good, consider checking on the setup of your income account, Donations directed by Individuals, in the Chart of accounts to ensure it is properly configured.

  1. Navigate to Transactions, then Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the account name in the search field.
  3. Select Edit in the ACTION dropdown.

  4. Review the setup of your income account and make changes if necessary.

Additionally, you can review transaction entries by running the Profit and Loss (P&L) report. Click on the numbers associated with the Corporate Sponsorships account name to access the Transaction Report, which will provide a comprehensive view of the transactions tied to that account.

You can also personalize the report to display specific metrics and data that cater to your requirements. Consider memorizing the customization process so you won’t have to repeat the method in the future.

Please click the Reply button if you have further questions about the mapping of your products and services in QBO, Shirley. We're here to help you with your concerns anytime.

Service Item is Mapping to a Different Income Account

Hi Jelayca V,

Yes, before I took this question to the Intuit Quickbooks community, I checked the proper mapping both on the service item and in the chart of accounts.  This is not my first rodeo.

Can you tell me why the Service Item "Donations" would apply to my revenue account "Corporate Sponsorship" when it was mapped to the account "Donations directed by Individuals"?

Thanks,

Shirley
