I have used QB for 20 years, with very basic needs, using few of the QB features, other than bill pay for my vendor, so I always had to upgrade when they would not support an older version. My company went in a different direction and I hired a bookkeeper who would only use the online version, so I switched. it's fine, but once again, I have switched my needs and I don't need my bookkeeper or the online version anymore, so I would like to revert back to my 2019 desktop pro version that I own, and drop the online monthly cost.
I've been told different stories about how to do this, and since 2019 is no longer a supported version, I am unsure if I can even move my books without having to update the desktop version again.
Can anyone confirm if I can move from online to my 2019 desktop version?
Many thanks
Hello @dswood1, If you still possess the license of your Quickbooks 2019 you could migrate the data to QB Desktop. Do you have payroll with your QB Online if yes, my recommendation will be to wait for the year end.
Do check out this article for exporting the data https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/export-conve...
Thank you. I was told by Intuit that the conversion would not work to go from online to 2019 because 2019 wasn't supported anymore, but my guess is that's not quite true, despite what they want me to think. My guess is that the add on features like payroll, bill pay etc will not work, but basic, fundamental books will work just fine as long as I am away I wont have access to those features.
And yes, I do not have payroll needs in QB
I can share some information about moving from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @dswood1.
Yes, QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019 is no longer a supported version. This means that your access to add-on services (QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Services, Live Support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services) will be discontinued. However, if you're not using any services, QBDT Pro 2019 will still work for you.
Just make sure that your computer's operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements are compatible to run QBDT Pro 2019. Then, ready your product and license numbers just like what SM191 above mentioned. You can get the installer by going to this Downloads & Updates page.
Once done, you can now install this to your PC:
After that, activate your QBDT:
Check these articles for more information about installing your QuickBooks to this new PC and activating it:
Then, follow the steps outlined in the following article on preparing your QBO file for exporting and importing your data to QBDT: Move your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me know if you have further questions about switching from QBO to QBDT. I'm always here to assist. Have a great rest of the day!
