Upgrade existing QBO company to Advanced

As a non-profit, we were able to buy a license from Techsoup at a lower price.  The instructions for moving our data over to the new account state, "Upgrade your existing QBO company to Advanced to create a backup."  I read somewhere to do this to navigate to Settings/Subscriptions and Billing.  There I find other options such as Payroll Core and Online Payments, but not "Advanced."  How do I set out account to Advanced so I can transfer the data into the new account?

Login to your QBO account as the Primary Admin and navigate to the Billing and Subscription menu. Can you upgrade your plan to Advanced?

Upgrade existing QBO company to Advanced

Thanks, I found it later.  It presents me with the billing information for such an upgrade, about $1,900.  I am doing this just to do the export of the data so we can move to the less expensive Techsoup account.  Is there a trial period for the upgrade that we can use and then downgrade without a charge?

Upgrade existing QBO company to Advanced

Let me show you how to upgrade your subscription so you can back up your data in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Htw.

Yes, Deity Alpha is right. You can log in to your QBO account as the Primary Admin and navigate to the Billing and Subscription menu to upgrade your plan to Advanced.

Here's how to upgrade your subscription:

  1. Log in to your QBO account.
  2. Go to Gear icon settings, then select Subscriptions and billing, and please ensure your payment info is up to date.
  3. In the QuickBooks Online section, select Upgrade your plan.

  5. Click Get started.
  6. Follow the on-screen steps to upgrade your plan.

Please know that in QuickBooks Online Advanced, there is some data you can't back up related to your chart of accounts.

However, you can also export your data and download it using a third-party app if you're on a different subscription.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Gear Icon settings.
  2. Select Export data under Tools.
  3. Set the date range on the Reports tab.
  4. Turn on the button to add the items from the Reports and Lists.
  5. Click Export to Excel.

You can refer to this article for more information to export specific data: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

For your other concerns after upgrading your subscription, you can click Downgrade your plan and dial the contact number on the screen.

Another option, convert your data to QB Desktop and use the trial version for good to access your historical data. Then convert your data again to a new QBO account provided by TechSoup.
