What is CAMPS???

What happens when your subscription expires

Hello there, eagleceltic36. I'm happy to address your concern about CAMPS.

CAMPS is where we can view our user ID access, accounts, products, contacts, and billing. From there, we can change a credit card, amend our payment method, monitor charges, and update our billing and email addresses, among other things. This is the fastest and easiest way to manage all our product details and company information.

We can follow these steps to review some of your information:

  1. Go to camps.intuit.com
  2. Sign in with your Intuit Account info.
  3. Select your product.

I've gathered a few resources for more tips and details about CAMPS:

I'm always here whenever you need help. Just post your concerns below if you have more questions about signing in to your account and concerns about CAMPS. Bye for now and take care always.

I have QB Pro 2020 which I run a small payroll on. I know my payroll support functions will cease next year but I refuse to mitigate to the online features as they are impossible and inadequate and frustrating to deal with. Do I still hold my user license for the 2020 software and will I still be able to access it in 2023 without paying a "HOSTAGE" fee? I can easily old school my payroll - I learned back in the days before quickbooks and computers - and I don't need qbonline for filing for my payroll reports - I can either snail mail or do them myself before I pay $3,077 a year "SUBSCRIPTION" hostage fee. This is nonsense. QBooks is forgetting its roots and what made is successful, which was the "Simple" and "Do it yourselft" Financial management software for small business owners. They keep using that matra for product sales, but it is far from the truth now. I see a class-action lawsuit in the near future, not only for product misrepresentation, but holding customer data hostage if they don't continue to pay a fee.. Not ok. I suggest everyone start downloading, saving, printing and making hard copies of their journals, ledgers and transactions to store manually if you think you will get locked out of your quickbooks data...

Meanwhile, good thing I kept my older CD versions of quickbooks as I still hold the user license for those and can use any time I want.

Cajundawn - what company/software did you find? I am looking for alternatives as QB has lost their mind with this new subscription format and phasing out desktop.

Please let me know when this class action will begin. They have definitely crossed the line of principles and ethics with this denial of service bs.

@SKC23

Login to your CAMPS and make sure you have a one time license for QBD 2020. You can still run QBD 2020 after May 2023 as long as you don't need any online service (e.g bankfeeds, payrolls, emails, 3rd party apps). If your run a business with revenue <50K USD per annum, you may consider switching to a cloud based accounting app with a free plan. You only need to pay payroll as an add-on and you can have multiple businesses as different organizations associated with your payroll account.

Thanks - the only online service I use is the payroll updates. Being old school accounting days, I will go back to doing payroll by doing the calculations myself. Easier than paying thousands of dollars and switching to online. Thanks.

I have Quickbooks 2018. It was not a year subscription. I bought my software outright, and have been using it for my tiny business since 2018. I do not need any online services. However, now when I go to use MY software that I PAID for, Quickbooks will not let me access it without a subscription. I chose to purchase my software outright so that I would always have access to my files, as a subscription was not a good option for my company. Now, Quickbooks is quite literally holding my data hostage in order to push me into buying a very expensive software subscription.

Quickbooks has always touted itself as being small business friendly. How is extorting people and charging exuberant prices friendly to small businesses? This is not the type of company I want to support, and I will be looking into class action lawsuits, as they have stolen my personal property by cutting off my access to a software that I purchased.

@Khrys

Log in to your CAMPS and find your license status for QBD 2018. If you purchased a one-time license for QBD 2018, you can still use it for good. Unless you have purchased a new subscription license to upgrade your QBD 2018.

I feel the same way.  I have used quickbooks for years also.  They tell me in November that I never renewed my annual subscription from January and I used it in June and now cannot access my company file.  I received an error message to update my billing info...not that I never renewed.  So which is it... I am also looking for something new.

Hi there. @T Leaverton.

I understand how you feel about this and know this isn't the kind of experience we'd want you to have in QuickBooks. If you can give me a chance, I would love to help you sort this out so you can proceed to access your company file. Also, as I've checked here on my resources, I found no investigations about not being able to access the company file due to the subscription has reached its expiration date.

I recommend getting in touch with our QuickBooks Customer Care Team about this. They can assign a representative to check and investigate your account to determine the reason you're unable to access your company file.  I can even input the steps below. To begin, here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  5. Sign in to your Intuit account and select Continue and then Continue with my account.
  • If you don't already have an account, make sure to Create a new account.

6.We'll email you a single use code. Enter your code and select Continue.

  • If you have more than one account, select the account you want to use and then Continue.

      7. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.

If you're unable to perform the steps above, you can visit this page to contact our support team outside of QuickBooks: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

Additionally, I've got you this article to help you handle possible data issues within your company file: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

@T Leaverton, I'm with you on sorting and resolving your concern. Don't hesitate to get back to me if you need further assistance with this. I'll make sure to respond right away. Take care, and have a nice day.

Which QB Desktop year version did you run?

What happens when your subscription expires

I purchased QB Desktop 2021 CD in late 2020. Early in 2022 I was sold a monthly subscription. Recently I was told by a phone representative if I cancel my subscription the software would stop working. Also, since my data files were updated several times since 2021, I can no longer open my data file in my 2021 Desktop version. Since I do not keep more than 2 previous backups I cannot go back to older files, and why would I want to do that? All of the data entered since the change to monthly subscription would have to be re-entered. Not acceptable. That's the problem I am facing.

Thank you for your interest in this matter.

Monthly subscription? Are you using QB Desktop Enterprise? Which year version?

Hi there, afb22.

I'd be glad to provide some information about opening your data file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

You can upgrade your file from an older to a newer version of QuickBooks but you can't use the upgraded file in the older version. For more information about the compatibility of the versions of the accountant's copy and the QBDT program, please refer to this article: Use the Accountant's Copy.

If you have a 2021 backup file, you can restore it and re-enter the transactions from there.

Furthermore, I'm adding these handy resources that can guide you in managing your company files along the way:

Feel free to post again or leave a comment if you have further questions about your QBDT subscription or anything else. I'm always here to help. Keep safe.

Dear Quickbooks - What it boils down to is the majority of your CUSTOMERS do NOT want to lose the desktop product in it's non-subscriber form. Why do you not get that and why do you keep pushing the online product when it is horrible to work with in both the payroll and normal accounting format? And people DON'T want it? Quickbooks desktop is what made you successful. It is the root of QBooks success sooo many years ago. Why eliminate the one product that the majority of your CUSTOMERS want? Do you not understand how chaotic these changes make for ALL of your desktop customers? Do you not care about your customers - but only about the $$$??

Agreed. If you switch to online, they could AT LEAST give you read only access to the desktop version.

Incorrect. I have NEVER had a subscription for Quickbooks 2018. I never upgraded. And yet, Quickbooks is STILL blocking me access to my program. I even signed up for the online subscription just to see what would happen, and it STILL will NOT let me access my Quickbooks 2018 program. Also... wow.... your Quickbooks Online program SUCKS. Even after uploading my file, it completely changed my Chart of Accounts, and is NOT easy to fix or look at individual accounts in the Chart of Accounts. Also, it takes forever just to load the Chart of Accounts after clicking on one. I just want my Desktop software back. It was reliable before Quickbooks stole my access to my program. Quickbooks touts itself as small business friendly, but small businesses cannot afford them anymore.

Hi there, Khrys.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience while using our QuickBooks Online. I want to make sure you're able to access your QuickBooks Desktop.

You should be able to access your QuickBooks company file since you never had a subscription. If you have a backup copy of your company file, download and install your version of QuickBooks Desktop. Then, save the file somewhere you can easily find it and restore the file from there.

If not, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Team. They can provide what action to take so you can access your QuickBooks since you don't have a subscription before.

Let me know how the contact goes by commenting below. I'll be right here whenever you need my help.

My subscription lapsed as we closed our office am I’m told I can not access my files for taxes next year unless I renew. And, I’ll have to keep my subscription if I want access in case I ever get audited.

If you are not using QB Desktop anymore, you can utilize the trial version to open your file for 30 days.

I closed my account for my quickbooks online and have to reopen it, due to a demand letter I received from the IRS for 2020 taxes. (I thought I did them) Anyways, I called in and they said they will not reopen my account and to call the IRS to get the numbers for my tax return. I do not understand why they can't reopen it for a month so my accountant can do my 2020 taxes?
