When trying to log in to QuickBooks Self Employed, I get the following error: HTTP Status 400 – Bad Request. If I log in via Incognito mode, it works fine.

I've already tried clearing my cache and cookies but that doesn't make any difference. I'm using Chrome.

Hi there, OmaCoder.

I see you're having difficulty logging into your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. I'll provide some information to ensure that you can access your account.

The "HTTP Status 400 – Bad Request" is a common browser issue if the request sent to the server is unavailable. In this case, since you can access your QuickBooks Self-Employed account through a private/incognito browser and clearing the cache didn't fix it, we can perform additional troubleshooting steps to isolate and resolve the issue.

The first thing we need to check is your browser's version. Ensure that you have the latest version of Chrome installed on your computer. Outdated browser versions can sometimes cause compatibility issues. Updating to the latest version may help resolve the problem. You can also try other supported browsers that work perfectly with QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'd also recommend consulting an IT professional to help you check your browser's settings and extensions. Some browser extensions or add-ons, such as ad blockers, privacy or security extensions, and browser toolbar extensions, could interfere with the usual functioning of websites. Disable any extensions you have installed in Chrome and log in again.

If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Self-Employed Support Team for additional assistance. They have the necessary tools to access your account in a safe environment to investigate further.

Let me know if you have other concerns or follow-up questions about QuickBooks Self-Employed. I'm always here to assist.

I get the log in error too. It's a disaster.

When trying to log in to QuickBooks Self Employed, I get the following error: HTTP Status 400 – Bad Request. If I log in via Incognito mode, it works fine.

I contacted support and they told me that their back-end engineers have advised that I must delete all of my saved site data and cookies from my browser. I said that didn't make any sense why I needed to delete everything when I'm only having issues with their particular website and not having issues with any other website that I use, and that deleting cookies and site data for everything will be detrimental to me and is not a valid solution.

I found this article on how to selectively delete chrome saved data and cookies so that it doesn't impact all of your web apps. If you are using chrome, you could try this.

Regarding your browser, @OmaCoder. I don't recommend clearing your cookies, as this file is important for storing user information. However, you can clear or refresh your cache, as this is responsible for smoothing out your access to websites.

I am repeatedly getting the HTTP Status 400 – Bad Request error as well.

Browser: Chrome Version 131.0.6778.267 (Official Build) (x86_64)  on Mac running OSX Ventura 13.6.7 (22G720)

I can log into Inuit successfully (hence this message), but not Quickbooks Self-Employed.

HTTP Status 400 Bad Request error happens when the request sent to the server is unavailable, KstohrI'm here to guide you with several troubleshooting steps that can help resolve this matter.

Since you've already checked your browser's version, kindly ensure it is up to date, as outdated versions can lead to compatibility issues. Moreover, I recommend clearing your cache and accessing your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account afterward. To empty Intuit-specific cookies, you can do so by following the steps below:

  • For Google Chrome
  1.
  1. At the top right, click the More  icon.
  2. Choose Settings, then pick Privacy and Security.
  3. Select Cookies and other site data, then click See all cookies and site data.
  4. Enter Intuit in the search bar to find Intuit cookies.
  5. Click the trash can icon or remove all shown.
  6. Once completed, close Google Chrome and restart it for the changes to take effect.

  • For Safari
  1. Click Safari at the top left, then go to Preferences.
  2. Select Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
  3. Type in Intuit in the search bar to find Intuit cookies.
  4. Choose Remove All, then click Remove Now.
  5. Tap Done, then restart Safari to ensure changes ensure that the changes have taken effect.

You can also utilize other supported browsers of our QuickBooks products.

Furthermore, it is advisable to consult with an IT expert to assess your browser's settings and extensions because add-ons such as ad blockers, security tools, and toolbar extensions can interfere with the functionality of websites.

Additionally, I recommend contacting our QBSE customer care team for additional assistance if the issue persists. They possess the secured required tools to access your account for further investigation.

Once you've gained access to your account, you can start performing tasks like creating invoices and categorizing bank transactions.

Just tag my name below if you have follow-up questions about the solutions provided to resolve your QBSE logging-in issue. I'll get back to you as quickly as I can to help.

When trying to log in to QuickBooks Self Employed, I get the following error: HTTP Status 400 – Bad Request. If I log in via Incognito mode, it works fine.

I also had this issue, annoying to say the least.

I checked the browser version and updated to the latest as a precaution.

I then went to this URL in Google Chrome: -

chrome://settings/content/all

There were a lot of Intuit cookies, so I deleted them all using the bin icon.

I left all other browsing data and cookies as they were, this was not a blanket delete everything action as suggested by the Intuit support agent.

When I retried the regular link, not in Incognito, it worked as expected.

I did have a prompt to confirm my authentication details, but all is well again.

Hope this helps.

This is the best solution! Thank you!!

As they stated, put this into your chrome address bar
chrome://settings/content/all
Then search for "intuit" without the quotes

use the trashcan to delete the intuit data

No need to deleted/clear everything... asking a customer to delete everything is just them tying to cover up that the issue is with intuit...
