I tried running as admin but it didn't work.

Thanks for hopping on this thread. It could be that the admin user restricts you to access that company file. This is why running as admin didn't work for you.
That being said, I'd suggest reaching out to your company admin and let them update your permission to access the company file.

I have a very similar problem. We have numerous company files but one particular file refuses to open.
The error that it show is that "you don't have permissions to open this file" All the other companies files open perfectly. The Windows permission are correct as well as the permissions in QB.
Would someone be able to assist.

I hope your day is going well so far. To properly assist you with this issue, is this occurring to other users of the company file or just you? Once I've received this information, I'll be able to determine a better solution.
In the meantime, you can Verify and Rebuild your data to help resolve the problem. This identifies the most commonly known data problems within a company file.
I want to make sure that this gets resolved as soon as possible. I'll be waiting for your response.
This only occurs on one of the company files with any of the users. The other company files work perfectly.
It is not possible to validate and rebuild the data because it mentions that you don't have permission to do this. This is even if you use the Admin user.
Even when using the quickbooks file doctor the program also complains about the permission and the application does not complete.
