Why do I have to renew desktop subscription if I purchased the software??

Seems to me tha once I buy the desktop software I should be able to choose future support and updates or not. Why should my desktop software stop functioning? Like if I buy my car outright and decide to stop paying for insurance, my car will quit running.  I can look at it for one year, then it will disappear~

You misunderstand the concept of "license". A license is simply permission to use a piece of software. You never have it. Something similar happens when you rent a car.

You can still use QB Desktop and they still offer QB Desktop 2024 to purchase.

If you are located in South Africa, you most likely have QB Desktop UK version.

I totally agree with you.  the company I deal with is so small it's not worth $600 renewal subscription. there has to be a way around it.

I’m wondering the same thing. We’re a small company and it’s $999 to renew. Did you find anything out about this?

Only QB Desktop with no payroll?

So we just paid $850 for our payroll renewal and now it's going to be $999 for quickbooks 2024 annual subscription renewal next month. This seems crazy to me!

You may have 2 options:

1. Cancel your Enhanced Payroll subscription within 60 days, request a refund and replace it with a third-party payroll application to sync with QB Desktop Plus.

2. Keep your Enhanced Payroll Subscription and use QB Desktop with a non-subscription license. You will register payroll expenses as JE manually in QB Desktop to lower your total costs.

Quickbook online just increased the monthly fee from 30 dollars a month to 35 dollars a month and I have not even had the online version for one year.  If the price keeps increasing people will find an alternative program to use or stick with the desktop version with no support.  Expenses are increasing daily and people will eventually stop subscribing to online products.

switching to zoho books myself... Intuit obviously HATES their customers and especially the Desktop customers... 

They are trying to force everyone to go with their online version.

This is the biggest rip off in consumer purchases. $999 to renew my subscription. I use zero services which I would gladly pay by the hour if needed. I am a small 1-person company. This should be illegal.

I find this business model ridiculous. I buy the software/license and now two years later to continue using it I pay twice the software/license cost. You want $999 for a small 1-person company. Thats over 40% increase in one year, that's price gouging. I have never used any of your resources and if needed would pay hourly for them. I find this abusive, a complete rip-off. I know once online you will continue doing the same to me. I buy your product under protest but assure you 9n the new year I'll find another way. What a terrible model to make folks hate doing business with you.

I do not use any add ons, I do not call for any user help. I pay you more than my CPA to do all my 1099's and tax filings. Why is that right?

You haven't paid me anything. You are using QB Desktop Pro Plus for single user, correct?

You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA and they may have an option to compare with your current product if you don't need any add-ons. Otherwise, you can renew your license thru them for $1,000 (tax exempt) + you can get $100 cashback.
