Amex credit card link

When I try to link our Amex Corporate Card it is not letting me link to an existing balance sheet account - why? Should I just create a new account and make it a sub-account of the existing balance sheet item? We have years of history that I don't want to lose.

Amex credit card link

I'll make sure you'll be able to link your Amex Corporate Card in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @mvlah2727.

To begin with, I suggest logging out and logging back in to your QBO account to refresh the system. Then link your Amex account again.

If this is not the case, I recommend connecting your Amex account separately and merging it with your existing account. This way, you'll have all your transactions in one account. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Select the Banking tab.
  3. Click Link account or Connect account.
  4. Search for your bank and click Continue.
  5. Enter your bank credentials and fill in the needed details.
  6. Then click Connect

You can also check this link for more details about the process: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Once done, merge your Amex account with your existing account. Before doing so, ensure to disconnect your Amex account from online banking. Then reconnect it after merging.

Furthermore, I recommend working with your accountant for guidance. They can advise you on other ways to handle this and ensure the safety of your accounts after merging them.

Once you're all set, you might want to use these links for guidance in matching your accounts seamlessly:
