Thanks for getting back to us, @Anna_Reznik.

As of this time, the bank's current balance will not show after uploading the transaction manually in QuickBooks.

As mentioned by my colleague above, as a workaround, you can check the bank's current balance in your Chart of AccountsI want to let you know that we're taking note of your feedback and suggestions to improve the experience we're providing.

Please also know that I'm going to send feedback on my end in regards to your concern about the option to show the bank balance after uploading the transaction manually. This way, our engineering team will check and work with this for possible inclusion in future updates.

Bank balances for banks with manually uploaded statements

Hello, Anna_Reznik.

You can check the bank’s current balance in your Chart of Accounts. Here’s how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Chart if Accounts under Your Company.
  3. You’ll see the balance under the BANK BALANCE column.

Furthermore, you’ll need to manually check your bank’s register in QuickBooks t figure out if there are duplicate or missing transactions.

Thank you, MikiD. We manually uploaded statements from 01/01/2019 till 03/31/2019 but can't see bank balance. What could be the reason?

Bank balances for banks with manually uploaded statements

Hi there, Anna_Reznik.

Thanks for responding back and for providing additional explanation.

If your recent downloads are through webconnect or manual download, the BANK BALANCE column would be empty. The system will derive this information from your bank and will auto-populate the field. This process, won't take affect when you do a manual download.

Thanks again for dropping by.

Bank balances for banks with manually uploaded statements

Hello, Anna_Reznik.

You might want to exclude the transactions that are downloaded manually and let the system download your transactions through direct connect. This way you’ll be able to see information under the BANK BANLANCE field.

Aside from that, you can also make sure that you’ve downloaded and added all the transactions from the bank. This will assure you that the QUICKBOOKS BALANCE would be the same as BANK BALANCE and will keep you from any reconciliation discrepancy.

Don’t hesitate to visit us again if you have other questions.

Quick books hasn't got direct connect for Transferwise, Epayments, Rietumu bank and some other banks and payment providers. I can only manually upload statements and this creates a difficulties for our business connected with possible errors and lack of ability to see the bank balance.

You can request for those banks to be added on the list of supported financial institutions, Anna_Reznik.

Here's how:

  1. Click Banking.
  2. Go to the Banking tab, then click Add account.
  3. Enter the name of the bank and if our system is unable to find it, you'll get a message, "Hmm, we can’t find [name of the bank you entered] in our list of supported banks".
  4. Click Request support for your bank.
  5. Enter the bank's URL in the field, then click Request.

For now, you can continue importing the bank transactions manually.

Let us know if you have more questions. We'd be happy to answer them.

Bank balances for banks with manually uploaded statements

Hi,

I manually upload bank transactions for 3 different bank accounts. I've been successfully reconciling all 3 bank accounts all along. Somehow I noticed that 1 of them, shows an outdated "UPDATE" bank balance. It stopped updating after Dec 2 when in fact I've been uploading transactions after that date. Apparently this issue does not affect the books. The balance  in QBO is correct. Please advise. Thank you.

Thank you for posting here in the Community @Gee4.

You don't have to worry about the outdated bank balance since it does not affect your books.

A connectivity issue may prevent you from downloading transactions into QuickBooks.

Hi Rubielyn_J,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Does this mean that specific account will always show the outdated bank balance amount (12/2/19)?

I always uploaded manually w/o using WebConnect. Simply using CSV comma delimited file to upload info.I attached snapshot of the account in question. (Highlighted in blue) All 3 accounts come from the same bank. All uploaded the week of March 20.

Thanks again!

It depends on your bank, Gee4.

I'll share some information about how banking works in QuickBooks Online.

Your financial institution controls what and how information is received by QuickBooks. As what my colleague Rubielyn_J has mentioned, Rubielyn_J, it could be that there's a connectivity issue or your bank's website is experiencing technical difficulties in transmitting the data into your QuickBooks account.

In addition, if a certain transaction hasn't been cleared in your bank yet, the balance of your bank connected to QuickBooks will also not be updated.

When we connect our bank, QuickBooks Online automatically downloads the latest available transactions every night around 10 PM PT. For most banks, transactions are usually available for QuickBooks to download the day after they post to your bank's website. Some may take a little longer depending on your bank.

It's highly recommended that we should coordinate with your bank before you set up online banking. This way, we’ll be able to know what connection method they support, what the fees are (if there's any), and what information you need to set up and use the feature.

I've included an article that will guide you in handling your bank transactions: Assign, categorize, edit, and add your downloaded banking transactions.

Do you have other questions in mind? You can leave them below and I'll make sure to get back to you as soon I can.

Bank balances for banks with manually uploaded statements

Do you think you could help me? I'm actually having the opposite problem. There should be a 0 bank balance because we uploaded statements for a credit card but there is a bank balance reflected and it is wrong. How can I fix this? I've deleted everything and re-uploaded twice and a balance keeps coming up. Should we ignore and go with the Quickbooks balance? How will this throw off reconciling that acct.?

Hello there, sgriffin.

The bank balance is your bank's actual balance from the last bank feed update. There can be outstanding transactions that are causing the bank balance not equal to zero. In reconciling an account, we rely on your bank statements and it should match the transactions posted in QuickBooks. You can check out the Fix issues the first time you reconcile an account on QuickBooks Online page that will help you manage your bank account balances.

Once you have your bank or credit card statement, you can start adding and matching your bank transactions and then reconcile them. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Reconcile
  2. Select the bank and enter the ending balance and date based on your statement.
  3. In the reconciliation screen, select all those transactions indicated in your bank statement.
  4. At the upper-right, you should see a zero difference.
  5. Click Finish now to save.

For the detailed steps, you can click here.

Keep me posted if you need more help. Take care!
