Bank credit card sync 600 max transactions?

Good afternoon,

We had fraud on one of our CC accounts, and the bank issued a new card.  We forgot to sync the new CC to QBO and it was used for about 3 months racking up many transactions.  When we now sync it to QBO, it pulled an exact 600 transactions, which seems very unlikely that it would be an exact number.  We're also missing about a week's worth between the transition from the old card to the new one...

We're thinking that this may be some kind of maximum number for importing, and that it's 'cutting off' the first transactions for this new card (from 4/20 - 4/29)

Any way to import those transactions or increase that 600 number to something higher so that we're not missing information?

Thanks,

Bank credit card sync 600 max transactions?

Hello there, Gentek.

I'm here to share more information about downloading bank transactions and how you can enter the missing entries.

QuickBooks is dependent on your financial institution. Some banks let you download the last 90 days of transactions, while others can go back as far as 24 months. This could be why QuickBooks only pulled 600 of your entries and others are missing.

With that, you'll have to enter the other transactions manually using a CSV file. I'm here to guide you through the steps.

To start with, you'll have to get the transactions from your bank.

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card's website.
  2. Follow your bank's instructions on how to download CSV files of your transactions.
  3. Check the date range for the download. It should be at least one day before the date of your oldest transaction. Then, download the missing transactions.

From there, you can follow the steps laid out below to upload the transactions:

  1. From the Banking tab, select Banking.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Click the Link account drop-down, and select Upload from file.
  4. Select Drag and drop or select files.
  5. Continue with the on-screen instructions to upload the entries successfully.
  6. Click Done.

To help ensure the transactions are in the correct account, you can categorize them. Here are a few articles as your guide;

@Gentek

Another option, use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo).

Bank credit card sync 600 max transactions?

I appreciate the follow up!

I was able to import the missing transactions using that method and it seemed to work out ok.  The odd thing is that the number before was exactly 600, and after importing 25 transactions, it only went to 621...  All of the ones I imported where there, so not sure where the other 14 went, or if it cut them off the other end (current transactions) to make room?

Lesson learned about waiting a couple months to link a credit card up!

Bank credit card sync 600 max transactions?

Hi, Gentek. The procedure provided above should resolve the missing transactions.

Let's take other steps to find the remaining transactions that are still not reflected in the account.

You can run a QuickReport to locate the missing entries. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Choose the bank/credit card account.
  3. Click the dropdown arrow under the Action column and select Run report.

If the issue continues, the browser's temporary internet files can cause strange behavior in the software, such as missing data. To resolve this, logging into a private window will help us determine whether or not this is a browser-related problem. Private browsing doesn't use extensions and stops the cache from saving your browsing history.

  • Ctrl Shift for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift P for Firefox
  • Control Option +if you're using Safari

If you can see the missing transactions using a private window, you can return to your default browser and delete any cached files. Otherwise, use another supported browser as an alternative.

Once transactions are in, you can categorize them and put them to their account properly. This ensures accurate financial reporting and supports proper record-keeping.

I'll be right here if you have additional details on this. I've got your back.
