Can i delete all transactions and start over from scratch?

I'm a new user and have totally messed up to the point where I want to start over from scratch and delete all transactions. How do I do this?

Yes, you can delete all your online data and start from scratch. This feature is available to QuickBooks Online Plus or Essentials subscriptions. Let me guide you on how this works.

 

  1. Log into your QBO account.
  2. Change the URL to include /purgecompany.
  3. Confirm you want to delete your company data, type Yes.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Choose Wipe Data.

You can do this for accounts that are less than 60 days from the day it is created and is irreversible. However, for accounts that are more than 60 days, you'll have to cancel your current account and start a new one. On the other hand, if you're referring to starting a clean slate in your account's register, you can undo the added or matched bank transactions.

 

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Choose the Banking tab.
  3. Select the Reviewed tab.
  4. Mark all the transactions you want to undo.
  5. Click the Batch Action drop-down.
  6. Pick Undo.

Once completed, you can now match and categorize your bank transactions.

I've read all of the help articles on this before canceling my account to make sure i understood what the options were. My account is less than 60 days old but because it's quick start I understood that i had to cancel it and then resubscribe. So I've done that but find that the only option available is to resume the old trial subscription. How do I work around that?

The option "resume the old trial subscription" is equivalent to resubscribe your QuickBooks. I'll guide you how:

 

Step 1.

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks.
  2. Go to the Gear icon.
  3. Under your Company, choose Account and Settings.
  4. Select Billing & Subscription, then Resubscribe.
  5. Enter the updated billing information.
  6. Select Subscribe.

 

Step 2.

  1. Log out, then log in again.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then Account and Settings.
  3. Select Billing & Subscription, then check the Next charge date.

Shoud you only need to resubscribe, do the steps as mentioned by Maybelle_S 

 

But if you seek the lower price, you can open a new QBO account.  Make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to 6 months. If you purchase from the trial account, you have to pay the regular price.

You've not answered the question. There is no option to purge data and start over in Simple Start. Canceling is the only option to begin again BUT we do not want to keep the old information because of numerous mistakes. Also, if the account is brand new (within 30 days), will resubscribing create a new charge for the same month? I want to use Simple Start because of business needs. Being a new user and learning the program, I've made so many mistakes in my one day old account that beginning from scratch is the only option. Please specifically answer the questions instead of giving the same unhelpful reply.

Hi nagese,

 

You're right. The purge option is not available for Simple Start. What we can do is sign in to a new Simple Start plan using your existing credentials. We're giving 70% off till December 4 because of our Cyber Monday Sale.

  1. Select the Simple Start plan from the Pricing list.
  2. Select a payroll service if you need it or click Continue without payroll.
  3. Click Check out, and you'll be routed to the sign-in page.
  4. On the sign-in page, there's a line that says Adding a company to an existing account? Sign in. Click Sign in. If you're signed in, in the first place, just confirm it.

Now, you will have two QBO company when you sign in. To remove the old company, invite a dummy user, make them the Master Admin user, and let them remove you from the user list. Usually, others will create a dummy email and invite it as a user to transfer the Master Admin role.

Does completing these steps create a second billing for me? And since I created my original account less than a week ago, do I get credit? How does any of this affect my account charges?

Let me provide the information you need for your follow-up question, nagese.

 

Since you will start a new account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), yes, you will be billed for the new subscription.

 

If you cancel QuickBooks Online (QBO) purchased from retail, you'll need to return it to Intuit within 60 days from the purchase date. Furthermore, the refund cannot be processed until Intuit receives the original retail package and a copy of your receipt.

If the product canceled was bought directly from Intuit, you can request a refund through your Intuit Account. I've laid the instructions below:

 

  1. Log in to your Intuit Account.
  2. At the left, in the Products & Services applet, select Products.
  3. Find the product you want to return, and select the Return Product link at the right.
  4. Select a cancel reason.
  5. Click Return Product.
  6. Wait for the confirmation that the product return was submitted successfully.
  7. An email will be sent to you as your refund is processed.

When you request the refund, your license will be deactivated and you’ll no longer be able to use the product. If you have questions, you may also contact Customer Service.
