Can I manually enter old credit card transactions that my bank no longer has electronically?

Hello @sgretch,

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to help with manually entering credit card transactions.

QuickBooks Online offers the ability to manually enter transactions, including those associated with a credit card. Here's how:

  1. Select the Plus icon.
  2. Click Expense.
  3. Choose the credit card account in the Bank/Credit account drop-down.
  4. Enter the additional information about the transaction.
  5. Click Save.

For information on entering transactions into the register, I recommend the following article: How to Add or Edit Transactions in a Register (or Account History)

Additionally, you may wish to consider entering the transactions into a spreadsheet and uploading them into QuickBooks Online. You can locate information on this process, as well as steps, at the following link: How to Import Bank Transactions Using Excel CSV Files.

That'll do it. I'm confident you'll have these old credit card transactions entered in no time.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Wishing you well.

Can I manually enter old credit card transactions that my bank no longer has electronically?

Venmo credit cards are not viewable in desktops and cannot be emailed, or downloaded as a csv file. This is so inconvenient I am about to cancel QuickBooks and Venmo and wash my hands. How do I record my Venmo credit card balance into my business QuickBooks account? I paid extra for bookkeeping assistance and was told to download a csv file of the transactions, and Venmo credit card says they don't do that. Not can I even view my transactions in any way but the app, and they cannot be emailed. How do I input them as a bill and pay them all in one account from my QuickBooks online. I am so mad I wish I never started a business and never chose either of these companies I've been throwing money away!

What file format you can download from Venmo? You can use a converter tool as a workaround.

I know this hasn't been an easy process for you, dustbunnies. I'm here to ensure this gets sorted out.

I understand the challenge of not having a direct method to automatically integrate your Venmo data into QBO. However, I have two alternative approaches that can help address this issue.

To accomplish this, we can either manually create bills and process payments in QBO or explore the option of using a third-party application that can convert the file type generated by Venmo into CSV format, which can then be uploaded to the program.

First, to enter bills, I recommend following these steps:

  1. Go to + New and then select Bill.
  2. From the Vendor drop-down arrow, choose the vendor's name.
  3. Choose Category details or Item details to expand the section.
  4. Add the necessary details of the bill.
  5. Enter or update the DescriptionQtyRate, and Amount as needed.
  6. Click Save and close.
  7. Repeat the steps to create the other bills.

Once done, pay them all in one account.

Second, consider exploring a third-party app to assist in converting the Venmo transactions to CSV format. Once done, perform the step-by-step instructions below to upload the file to QBO.

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Click the Link account drop-down arrow, then select Upload transactions.

  3. Choose Drag and drop or select files and locate the file you downloaded from your bank. Then click Continue.

  4. In the QuickBooks account field, select the account you want to upload the transactions. Then hit Continue.

  5. Make sure everything is set up accurately to avoid issues, then click Continue.

Please feel free to tag me anytime if you require further assistance with the entire process. My goal is to ensure that you always achieve your desired outcomes in your bookkeeping. Stay safe!
