Can i merge bank accounts

I'm glad to assist you with successfully merging your bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @matthewsbusiness.

It isn't directly possible to merge an account connected to online banking with another account in the chart of accounts in QBO.

You can temporarily disconnect your bank account connected to online banking. Before disconnecting it, make sure to categorize your transactions on the Bank transactions page because they will disappear during the merging process.

You can also export the reconciliation reports for both accounts since there's a possibility that they will also disappear after merging.

Here's how you can Merge:

  1. Navigate to the Accounting menu on the left side of the screen.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the account that you want to keep, and click on the drop-down arrow next to View Register. From the options displayed, select Edit.
  4. Note down the account details, then click on Cancel.
  5. Search for the duplicate account to be merged and click on the drop-down arrow next to View register. From the options displayed, select Edit.
  6. Update the details of the duplicate account to match the account that you want to keep, then click on Save.
  7. Finally, select Save, and then Yes, merge accounts when you are ready.

Once done, you can now reconnect the merged accounts to online banking. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Select Bank transactions.
  3. Click the Link account button.
  4. In the search bar, enter your bank name or URL.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Enter your Sign info in the Login and Password fields, then select Continue
  7. Pick the account you want to connect and date to pull transactions from the drop-down arrow. Then, hit Next.
  8. Choose your account type on the Account type drop-down arrow, then Next.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

It's important to regularly reconcile your accounts to ensure accuracy and up to date.
