Buy nowI have a Chase account that has two credit cards. One card was set up as a parent account the other as a sub account. Somehow, the sub-account disappeared, and transactions from that card were not being pulled through.
I did the following:
Reconnected the sub-account.
When I try to make the the sub-account a sub-account again I get this error.
You can't change the parent of this account to (xxxx) because it or its parent is already set up for Online Banking or Web Connect.
I have tried disconnecting all the accounts and reconnecting them multiple times , and I keep getting the same error. Any help is appreciated.
I appreciate you providing the information on how to resolve your query, seanjward.
To link the two credit cards, they need to be associated with the Chase account, which serves as the principal account for both cards. When managing a credit card account that includes multiple cards, you will first create a primary account (the parent account) and then add each card as a sub-account under it.
Please take note that you can’t connect both a parent account and its subaccounts. If you connect both, you’ll get a message that the account is already connected.
You can read about how to change the account type for your main account or sub-accounts. All accounts need to share the same type. To update them, first convert each sub-account into a parent account.

Hi there. I did exactly as you described when I initially set it up. It worked fine for a while, and since then stopped working. When I try to set it up again, it does not work.
I have the parent account pulled into QBO. I cannot set up the sub account so the transactions of that card are not being pulled into the parent account.
Before reconnecting, first disconnect both the parent and sub-account from online banking and ensure you only connect one account to avoid errors, Sean.
Log into your account using a private or incognito window for online banking. If the error clears, improve performance by clearing your regular browser's cache and cookies, or switch to a different supported browser to prevent QBO issues.
