Delete Uploaded Bank Statements

How do I delete uploaded bank statements once I reconciled in QB Online?  My problem is I successfully reconciled the month and uploaded the wrong bank statement (PDF).  I can't seem to delete the incorrect bank statement so I can upload the correct one for the month I reconciled.  Thanks!

I’ll be here to help you with deleting those transactions, @Mr00000Ed.

Since you already reconciled the transactions, you can just exclude the transactions from the Banking page. This way, you can upload the correct bank statement.

Here's how:

  1. On the left panel, click Banking.
  2. Choose an account.
  3. Go to the For Review tab.
  4. Put a check mark on the transactions you want to exclude.
  5. Select Exclude.

The transaction moves to the Excluded tab of the Banking page. When you exclude a transaction, it doesn’t appear in any account registers or financial reports. You can also see this article for more details about excluding bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO): Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can now download the correct bank statements to start your reconciliation. If everything seems right, you can now categorize and reconcile your account as soon as you're ready.

I've added articles about managing your multiple accounts, transactions and fixing some banking errors.

I look forward to working with you again to answer any banking questions or other QuickBooks-related concerns. Have a nice day, @Mr00000Ed.

Thanks for joining the thread, MonkeyBeaver.

We currently have no way to remove the actual statement from QBO.

For now, you'll want to exclude the transaction as my colleague Joesem M shared here.

Otherwise, please suggest it to our product developers so they can review it and could be considered it for a future update. Here's how to send feedback:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Feedback under Profile.
  3. Share your feedback.
  4.  Click Next to submit.

In my case I haven't reconciled the account yet... but I did upload the wrong file statement!

How can I replace it with the correct one?

Thanks,

Hello, Carlos T.

Thanks for joining this conversation. Allow me to jump in and help upload your correct bank statement in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Since you haven't started the reconciliation yet, you can go back to the Reconcile page again and click the View statement option to re-upload the correct statement.

However, if you don't see the option to replace it, you can still attach bank statements manually when you pause or finish a reconciliation. Here's how:

  1. Follow the steps to reconcile the account.
  2. When you finish, select Finish now.
  3. Select Attach statement to add the statement.

If you don't have this option, I highly suggest sending feedback directly to our product developers. They're always looking for ideas to consider on how to improve QBO. You can follow the steps shared by my colleague JamesAndrewM above for further guidance.

To know more about managing and getting bank statements in QBO, consider checking out this article: Get bank statements directly from your bank when you reconcile.

I also recommend visiting our website for more tips and other resources you can use in the future: Self-help articles.

Please post again or leave a comment in this thread if you have additional questions about this or anything else. I'm more than willing to answer them. Stay safe.

This post is over a year old but hopefully my reply will help someone. If you have already reconciled your account, go to the register of the account that you want to add the correct statement to and follow these steps.

1. In the upper right corner, click on Reconcile

2. Click on View Statements

3. A box should come up on the right side of the screen. Under Unreconciled, you should see a statement that says you can manually attach statements to reconciled accounts. Click on History by account.

4. On the next screen, click on Attachments underneath Statements. A box should come up on the right side of the screen. You should be able to delete the incorrect statement and manually attach the correct one.

Unbelievable. I pay $100/month and you don't have a way to add or delete bank statements after reconciliation. How is that possible? I'm having the same issue as the person above. You guys at QB's need to get your act together.

I acknowledge the importance of a streamlined process when managing attachments in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Dom74.

You can add an attachment after a reconciliation in the History by Account page. I'll walk you through the steps:

  1. On the Reconcile page, choose the account.
  2. Select the History by Account link at the top right.
  3. Click on Attachments under the Statements column.
  4. Hit Done.

The option to delete an attachment is unavailable. If you want to remove it, you'll need to undo and reconcile it again.

I'd recommend that you send a feature request directly to our Product Developers about this matter. They're genuinely interested in hearing your comments and highly encourage you to share your suggestions and feature requests by providing feedback. Here's how:

  1. Open your QBO account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  3. Type in your suggestions and then click on Next.

Additionally, visit this article to handle discrepancies at the end of a reconciliation: Enter an adjusting entry for a reconciliation in QuickBooks Online.

You're always welcome to tag my name in your comments if you have any other concerns regarding reconciliation. I'd be pleased to assist with all of your QuickBooks needs. Have a good one.

Wow... I'm impressed. That worked. I searched around everywhere for a way to do it and every comment I saw said that it could not be done. I had a hell of a time finding it too. Here's to egg on my face...happily.

Thank you for your thorough and quickly timed solution/response!
