I used to to Loan Manager. But this function disappeared.

I upgraded from Quickbooks Pro 2016 to Desktop for Mac 2019.  I don't see loan manager? Any help would be great.  Thanks!

Welcome to the Community. I can help you see the Loan Manager feature on your QuickBooks for Mac 2019.

First, you will have to reboot your computer. This is necessary for the update to properly sync with your QuickBooks and Internet Explorer.

After that, run the Reboot.bat: 

1. Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon on your desktop.
2. Select Properties.
3. Select Open file location.
4. Right-click the reboot.bat file.
5. Choose Run as Administrator.
6. Wait until the reboot.bat file utility is complete.

Finally, open your QuickBooks and use the Loan Manager feature.

I'm pretty sure QB for Mac never had Loan Manager. You should confirm this. Thanks.

What is the best way to enter the bills and payments on Quickbooks for Mac 2019 if you transferred your company file from the QuickBooks Desktop and we were using Loan Manager before? 

MAC doesn't use .bat files that is a windows batch file

It's possible that some information is missing when setting up the loan manager. 

You can review the loan information by following these steps:

1. Go to Banking located at the top.
2. Select Loan Manager and click Add Loan.
3. Select Edit Loan Details if necessary.Note: The loan details you entered shows on the Summary tab at the bottom of the Loan Manager.

The situation, however, is emblematic of the degree to which Intuit deprioritizes the user experience.  Requiring users to download a toolkit to debug a new release would make even a Windows 10 release team look for a hole to crawl into.

With all the new ways Intuit has developed over the last 10 year for reaching into my pocket for more money, the expectation would be that at least a portion would go to developing some professional level testing and UX methods.

I too am missing my loan manager option in Quickbooks 2016.  I have read the community post and have tried everything and CANNOT get Loan Manager to appear in the Banking Drop Down.

I recently bought a new computer.  I installed my Quickbooks 2016 on my new laptop and brought over my quickbook files using PC Link.  I restored all my QuickBook Companies using RESTORE BACKUP copies.  This worked well and all my company files are active and had current data.

I have mutiple loans that I track in one company QB.   I read alll the post and tried  all recommendations but no luck.

(1)  ran the reboot.bat file (with admin rights)  in QB to do a recovery - did not work

(2)  Used Quickbook Tool Hub.  Tried quick repair and program problem repair.  - did not work

(3)  moved over company.LMR file from old computer and put into QB directory where F2 showed my company file.  Restared QB and Restarted computer - did not work.

HELP.  I need this file back to track the accuracy of principal and interest (amortization) of my pre-estblished loans.

You can upgrade to QuickBooks 2020, KrisMatty.

QB 2016 is no longer supported and this might be one of the reason why you're unable to see the Loan Manager feature.

You’ll need to create a backup file to make sure that the data will be saved before upgrading. Here's how:

1. Go to the File menu, pick Back Up Company, and then choose to Create Local Backup.
2. Locate Local Backup.
3. Push Options.
4. In the Tell us where to save your backup copies field, hit Browse and select the location in which to save the backup copy.
5. Select OK.
6. In the Create Backup window, specify whether to back up automatically, and view Options to set options for automatic backups.
7. Find New to set a backup schedule in the Schedule Backups dialog.
8. Click Finish.

Like many, my Loan Manager disappeared in QB2017Pro. After trying every repair option provided, and spending three hours with QB support, I was told that there's no answer.

It's gone and Intuit support knows not where...

So I tried upgrading to QB2020 Pro. 

On the laptop, still no Loan Manager.

On the desktop; Hey, there's Loan Manager!

That was on Friday...

Today, Monday, giddy to re-enter all my loan info: IT'S GONE AGAIN.

To see the Loan Manager, the platform should be up-to-date. Also, there are system requirements for QuickBooks Desktop to run smoothly.

I, too, upgraded just recently to Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020.  My loan is not showing up in loan manager.  I have not yet tried downloading the Quickbooks Tool Hub....Wish me luck!

SOLVED: To everyone who mysteriously lost their loan manager...

Ensure your Windows' settings has Internet Explorer set as the default web browser.

Mine was set to Chrome, and loan manager disappeared.

On a whim I reset my two machines' default from Chrome back to Internet Explorer, restarted the systems, opened QuickBooks and - voila! - loan manager is back.

If you lost your loans AND none of the above worked AND your QB company file has a different name after the upgrade here is a solution.

1. Get a binary editor such as HHD free fex editor neo.
2. Determine your new company file name and your old company file name.   I'll use CFOLD and CFNEW here.
3. Make a backup copy of CFNEW.LMR (copy it somewhere else)
4. Using the binary editor open the  CFNEW.LMR file.  I'm guessing you'll see a filename a the top and lots of zero's or empty space.  That means the data is gone and we need to restore it.
5. Close CFNEW.LMR
6. Open CFOLD.LMR
7. At the top you'll see a file name like CFOLD.QBW 
8. Using the binary editor, change CFOLD.QBW to CFNEW.QBW by just typing it.
9. Save the file as CFNEW.LMR
10. Restart Quickbooks

Summary:

During the upgrade and creating a new file the loan data, which is stored in the .LMR file does not get carried over.   You can't just rename the .LMR file because it checks the company file name in the .LMR file.  If it doesn't match you'll get an error.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried the steps below and also calling in and no help. I have Desktop Pro 2020 and cannot access Loan Manager. I have also tried Quickbooks Tool Hub as well.

I know you already called them, but only they have the tools to investigate this further and provide additional troubleshooting steps. 1. Go to the Help icon and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
2. Click Contact Us.
3. Write your concerns in the description box, then select Continue.
4. Select which one of the support options you'd like to use.
