How can I change out a bank account ?

I'm here to ensure you can change your bank account in QuickBooks Online, @raquel8.

If you're referring to the bank for payroll, you can follow the link shared by @gayatriluthfias20. Let me add the other three possible scenarios I can think of.

First, you may want to update your online banking login credentials. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu, and then select a bank account you'd like to change.
  2. Click the pencil icon ✎, and then pick Edit sign-in info.
  3. Update your credentials like username, password, account number, etc.

Second, if you'd like to edit the bank account name, here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu again, and then choose a bank account you'd like to modify.
  2. Tap the pencil icon ✎, and then pick Edit account info.

  3. Enter a new bank Name and Detail Type.
  4. Click Save and Close once ready.

Third, if you wish to create a new bank account which involves having a different account number, username, etc., here are the steps how:

  1. Navigate to the Accounting menu and then choose the Chart of Accounts tab.

  2. Click New, and then fill out the NameAccount TypeDetail Type, and Beginning Balance.
  3. Hit Save and close once finished.

  4. Then, go back to the Banking page, and then click Link account
  5. Look for the bank name, and then create a new set of login info. Alternatively, you can just search the bank name if it's one of the participating financial institutions in QBO.

For good practice, you can match and categorize your downloaded transactions to ensure they go to the right accounts and prevent duplicates.

To make sure they match your real-life bank and credit card statements, you may reconcile them. Please browse this resource for the steps on how: Reconcile an account.

I'd like to hear more from you in the comment section if you've got other QuickBooks concerns. Take care and have an awesome day.
