To do this, just remove the R status of the reconciled transaction. Please take note that you can do this process as long as the account and amount stays the same.

Once the status is Blank, you can now edit the transaction. To reconcile it again, follow the same steps above and change the status back to R.

I'm curious...is there a reason for why would you do it this way rather than directly changing the thing you want to change in the reconciled status, such as the category and then saving the changes?

The step provided by my colleague is another method in editing the reconciled transactions. Your suggestion is also correct where we directly edit the reconciled transaction and change its category. This changes anything but the amount and the account on any given transaction won't change its reconciliation status. Here's how:
