How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

I FINALLY found a write up on how to move the data (your 1st link was broken) bit it says I have to use IE to do the export, fine except that IE makes the gear icon disappear when I click on it.

It is there, I click on it to choose Export and it disappears. I refresh my screen and it is back.

On a related note I've requested chat with actual employees 4 times, all 4 times they say they will be with me in 5 mins and all 4 times it has been well over an hour with no response.

Does anyone actually work in customer service?  Do others have this issue?

How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

Hi there, @dpowell7299. Thanks for providing an update.

During tax season, we have a higher than normal volume of calls and chats, so wait times can be extended. I'll be happy to continue working with you here to get you back to business.

If you're having issues doing the export process, I recommend attempting to clear out any cache and cookies in Internet Explorer. Your browser stores these files to speed up sites, but sometimes they can cause issues in QuickBooks Online and other sites. Clearing them out is super easy and only takes a few moments. Check it out:

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to the Gear icon, then Safety, then Delete browsing history.
  2. Make sure to uncheck Preserve Favorites website data and check both Temporary Internet Files and Cookies, then click Delete.
  3. You'll get a confirmation at the bottom of the window once it's been completed.

That's it! Keep me posted here by using the Reply option. Please know I'm always available here to lend a helping hand. Thank you for bringing us your questions.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

Thanks for the help but the problem remains.  Edge does not allow for the export and IE displays the gear setting icon but it disappears when I click on it.

This happens on IE without administrator, run as Administrator and one two different PCs running W10.

So How do I download the data when QB Online says I have to run IE and IE won't show me the option?

How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

It says I have to run W7???  W7 is obsolete and no longer supported.

First off, I expect Intuit to be able to communicate between its various products.  That is a given.  OK, I accept that maybe they bought out another company and they are not talking to each other yet but the QB online is a newer service.  It should certainly incorporate the desktop features. ESPECIALLY with tax season looming.

I have been an Intuit customer since the very first version of TurboTax.  I've complained but remained loyal when they made it so you could no longer read older tax files with the newer versions.  EVEN when I had to re-purchase those versions.

But this might be the last straw.  I have no choice this year but I am going to look for alternatives, even if they are inferior as long as they communicate between daily business software and tax software.

Can you tell I'm just a bit frustrated? :)

Currently, the workarounds and the troubleshooting steps provided by Michael K are the ways to transfer your QuickBooks Online data to TurboTax, dpowell7299.

We'll share your feedback about the import/export option to our Product development Team. They'll put it into consideration for product updates. You can also visit the QuickBooks Blog to see what's new to the program.

Aside from that, we can also export your reports to Excel. Then, you can import or use it for reference when recording transactions to TurboTax.

We appreciate your feedback about this. This would help us know where to focus the program enhancements.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

I just got off the phone with your support people and they say it is impossible.  Which I am inclined to believe.  Your online step says I have to use windows 7 (which is obsolete) and ONLY the 32 bit version.

Fine. I have one very old PC that has W7 and 32 bit and www.quickbooks.com won't even load on it (but it loads in chrome just fine on the same PC)

It is ludicrous that a software company that ONLY does one thing, financials, is unable to pull data from one of their OWN products into another on of their OWN products.  It is not like I'm asking to interface with H&R or one of the other packages.

Although this experience is likely to be the one that causes me to no longer be a customer after I've been with Intuit from the very first version of Quicken.

Also if Michael K's steps are the ones to use, then could someone post a good link to his first step, " convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop "

I have the updated article when converting your QuickBooks Online data, dpowell7299.

You can use this link for the information on how to do the process: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

I also have the lists of limitation when converting: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online.

For some How do I steps, you can visit our Help Articles page.

There you have it, dpowell7299. I'm just around if there's anything that I can help.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

Step 3.1 I login to quickbooks online.  I see the gear icon.  I click on the gear icon. The gear icon disappears and does not come back until I reload the page.

This is on W7 running Internet Explorer 11 64 bit (because Microsoft won't let me install the 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine)

So it STILL does not work even when using the various obsolete versions of OS and IE

How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

Thank you for the additional details, @dpowell7299.

As of now, IE is no longer supported for QuickBooks Online (QBO). This is the reason why the icon disappears every time you click it. That being said, I'm here to share with you the workaround on how to export your company file from QBO to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

First, log in to your QBO account and use this link to start the file download: http://qbo.intuit.com/app/exportqbodatatoqbdt. Then, click the Get Started button as shown in the screenshot below.

After, proceed with the steps below:

  1. Select Install under ActiveX Control Now.
  2. When it's finished, click Continue.
  3. Choose the data you want to export, then click Continue.
  4. Review the limitations and choose Continue.
  5. Enter your contact info and then click Continue.

Once completed, you'll receive an email when your data is ready. To continue the process, follow the next steps laid out in this article: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

As always, feel free to visit our help articles in case you need tips and related links in the future while working with QuickBooks.

You can always add a comment below if you have any other questions. I'm a post away to help. Have a great day!

How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

You just said that IE is not supported but when I go to that link with Chrome it says I have to use IE.  I've Tried Edge (said I had to use IE) IE on W10 and IE on W7 and both show the "Get Started" button but clicking the button does not do anything.

How hard is it to have QB online have an export function that exports the data in a format the QBDesktop understands?  This is not rocket science.  A simple CSV can have all of the data needed to export and import information.

Heck, for that matter just export in a format that TurboTax can import and skip the whole QB desktop option.  Again, TT only needs categories and amounts.  It is not rocket science.

I write these imports/exports every single day at my job.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into my Turbotax business software?

I found the proper work around in another forum. Log into qb online using IE. once logged in, in the url, change “homepage” to “exportdata”. The “Get Started” button works and it went smoothly from there. It’s amazing how screwed up this mess is!!!
