Worked like a charm! I too the code from another qbo file for another back account. YEAH!
I have been using Big Red Consulting's CSV to Excel to Web Connect File converter and it has worked wonderfully. I actually have a client that uses Excel to record checks and deposits. I use BRC to upload their data as well. Best $ I've spent for correcting QB's hangup in this area. Thanks BRC!
This worked for me, and I didn't need to upload files to the web: https://collaboration133.com/converting-qfx-files-to-qbo-files-for-import-to-quickbooks-via-web-conn...
Thanks to whomever posted it!
omg that worked...
simple...
change quicken download to qbo
Makes no sense your answer. If your
You can simply change the file extension from .qfx to .qbo
HOWEVER…as I understand it, banks have to pay a fee to provide a .qbo file for download so if a .qbo is not one of the options available to download either your bank doesn’t offer it at all or not with the type of account you have.
In the .qxf file about 24 lines down there is a bank ID number <INTU.BID>#### where the # represents the bank number, i.e. <INTU.BID>64161 if your bank is not on the list you will get an error when trying to import but it’s an easy fix by just changing the number to one that does work. You can try 64161 and or do a search for “List of INTU.BID”.
Once you have a good number, change the .qfx file extension to .txt and open in a text editor. Scroll down the the <INTU.BID>, change the number and save the file. Change the extension from .txt to .qbo and your good to go. You can double click on that file or go into Quickbook Desktop and follow the directions for importing bank transactions.
Banking>Bank Feeds>Import Web Connect File select your .qbo file and bada bing bada boom!

Solution for desktop version found
Download QFX file as usual for Quicken or else.
Simple change the file extension from .qfx to .QBO works like magic.
- Rename the file
- go to File-> Utilities -> Import -> Web Connect
find newly created .QBO file.
DONE
Just "rebadge" QFX file with QBO by changing extension. and Import as if it were original QB file. It works
hi
1- download the file from the bank as qfx
2-save it in a place that you know
3-in windows sitting make sure that windows show the extention like this (acc activity.qfx)
4- rename the file as ( acc activity.qbo)
5-open bank feed. and import the file.
Done
I am there with you. All they ever answer is for Quickbooks Online.....the QBO does not support manufacturing so I upgraded my Desktop 2014 version to the DESKTOP 2021 version. BUT, you can only import QBO files .... for the online version, my bank does do live feed, but for the desktop version, you have to download files, but does not give a QBO file DL option.
Makes no sense to me that Quickbooks can't get both platforms operating in the same way when it comes to banking. There are pluses to QBO but QBO is too generic for people that actually make things (the assembly option is gone in QBO only offering bundles which does not work, especially with wholesale)
It seems like all they care about is promoting their Online option because they make more money that way since it is a monthly fee.
The fact that Quickbooks sell products without a user guide and do not support new purchases is a joke. Many may like the software, but not everyone wants to use the online version. I also don't feel like I should have to read through hours of community support to get a simple one line answer. I am returning this product and going with a company that cares to keep their customers!!!!

You may explore another app to convert bank transactions into your QBD file.

They acquired one app last year to manage inventories and bundles, then you may integrate the app with QBO. It also provides a simple manufacturing feature.

Should you need more features for a manufacturing company, explore another app

I'm having the same issue as the Op but with no joy for the solutions offered. My bank says they're downloading a QBO file but what I get is an OFX data file. No matter how I try to open it I get an error message and the program crashes.
Web Connect does the same thing, but only on 1 of my company files - the other is fine. I've gone through all the steps of verifying the connection, ran file repairs, ran troubleshooting etc, updated Windows (no option to update QB without going to a very $$$ and stupid subscription model). Talked to the bank, got rejected by QB support.
I have no idea how to do any of the Excel conversions covered here so am I out of options? Do I have to manually enter 15 months of transactions? C'mon, QB has to be better than this.
Late to the party but how did you do that, I don't have the option of renaming an extension.
I've been asking for this for more than 7 years and these jerks will not do it because they want the bank to pay them money. I wrote a free converter online that you can try. http://qbo-transformer.herokuapp.com/
Give it a try
It isn't the kind of experience that we want you to encounter, Corki.
I appreciate all the steps and troubleshooting you've done done to resolve this matter. The WebConnect file should help you download the transactions since it's not working on your end, it's best to reach out to our Phone Support team.
One of our agents there can do a screen-share with you and verify what causes the issue.
Once everything's fine, you can categorize the transactions. I've added this reference as your guide: Review downloaded transactions.
I'll be around if there's anything that I can help. Keep safe!
Try the steps mentioned by other member in earlier post
1- download the file from the bank as qfx
2-save it in a place that you know
3-in windows sitting make sure that windows show the extention like this (acc activity.qfx)
4- rename the file as ( acc activity.qbo)
5-open bank feed. and import the file.
Done
If it doesn't work, explore this converter app as another workaround

As I mentioned I have no option for renaming an extension so this doesn't work.

It's tempting. Yet the site didn't use https and there is no guarantee the converted file won't be injected with any malicious code. I would still recommend change the extension name manually or using a proven converter app.
Thanks, but I already did that too. I was told that no help is available to me unless I upgrade to QB 2021 and pay an ongoing extortionary subscription rate.
I'm on 2018 Desktop Pro with whatever updates are available for that version.
Corki,
When you save to your computer assuming you are using Windows there should be an option to save file as. There should be a drop down that allows you to pick all file extensions. If you select all file extensions you can remove the original QFX extension and add QBO extension. At the end of the day it is just a text file that you should be able to open in notepad to review.
The caveat is you may need to change some of the tags in the text file. For most of the downloads I need to remove any <MEMO> tags first and then convert all <NAME> tags to <MEMO>. That's only if you want that data to come through in the Quickbooks memo field. You can do a find and replace in notepad using Ctrl+H. Since you have 15 months to go through this may take some time.
Sorry I don't have any screenshots to share for a visual reference.
Doesn't seem to matter if I download from Mac or Windows, the file converts from a QBO to an OFX file. There doesn't seem to be an option to change the extension in either computer.
Thanks for getting back in here, @Corki. Let me add some details on how to fix this.
To change the extension to the supported file, I suggest having a converter tool. You can consider the app provided by Fiat Lux-ASIA.
Once done, you can follow these steps to import the file:
However, if the issue persists, I encourage you to contact our support team. They have the tools to check your account further.
