I bought a card reader for my business. It is on my bank transaction list. How do I categorize it?

I recognize how important it is to flawlessly categorize your transactions, essentialhauling. I'll make the process effortless for you.

QuickBooks analyzes all downloaded transactions to give you the best possible suggestions for categorizing them. You can either add, match, or view multiple matches from the Banking page.

To review and categorize your transactions, I'd suggest following these steps:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and then choose the Banking tab.
  2. Select the tile for the account you want to review.
  3. Choose the For Review tab to start categorizing the transactions.
  4. For each of the transactions, you have the option to match, add, or view multiple matches.

For your visual reference, I've attached a screenshot below.

For more details about these options, please see Step 2 in this article: Categorize and Match Bank Transactions.

To know the right account to use, I encourage consulting an accountant. If you don't have one, we can help you look for an expert through our Find an Accountant tool.

Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you review your accounts in QuickBooks. This ensures they match your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an Account.

I'm only a few clicks away if you need assistance managing or categorizing your bank transactions, essentialhauling. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.
