Hello sventeuber,

When activating Online Banking in QuickBooks Online, you will be able to choose which account you want to connect. To do this:

  1. Go to Transactions in the left navigation bar.
  2. Select Banking.
  3. Click Add Account in the upper-right hand corner.
  4. Search your Financial Institution, then choose your bank.
  5. Enter your Sign In information, and click Log In.
  6. Check the box next to the account that you will be connecting, then click the QuickBooks Account drop down, and choose the QuickBooks Account (from your Chart of Accounts).
  7. Click Connect, and when it is done connecting, click Let’s go!

This solution no longer seems to work. When connecting a bank account Inuit only gives the option to sync all of the accounts within that bank. For example, I have a Chase account but only want to sync one of the credit credit cards used for business.

The synchronization of bank accounts within QuickBooks Online (QBO) is controlled by the bank, not by QBO, @ericblake88. I'll provide more explanation about this.

For instance, if you're using Chase Bank, please note that they may only offer the option to sync all your accounts within their institution rather than individual accounts or credit cards. To gain a better understanding of this process and receive specific assistance, I recommend reaching out to the bank directly, Eric. They will explain and help you synchronize the credit card you use for your business.

Additionally, we can set up the link in two different ways, depending on whether your credit card is set up as a parent or a subaccount. If the transactions are downloaded to only the main account, link the parent account. However, you should sync the sub-accounts if they download to each individual account. Make sure to check how your bank downloads the transactions before connecting to online banking.

Moreover, don't forget to reconcile your accounts in QBO to ensure they match your real-life bank accounts.

Count me in for more questions about syncing your credit card to QBO. I'll be here to assist. Keep safe.
