I need to reconcile my credit card from the beginning. But the very first ending balance was registered as a 'Transfer. How do I fix it so it shows on the reconcile page?

Hi there, helloakichang.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. You can manually edit the Transfer transaction in your Credit Card Register. I'll show you how to do it:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts
  3. Find the account that shows the transfer , then select View Register
  4. Select the transaction, and tap Edit
  5. Transfer the transaction to its correct account.
  6. Click Save and close

For more detailed insight about it, Here's an article you can read to learn more about how you can manually undo your reconciled transaction: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online

For additional reference, I've got your this article to learn more about reconciliation: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online

But I'd still recommend contacting your accountant for additional advice about your reconciliation. He/she can properly assist and guide you on how to handle your reconciliation. You can find one by checking out this article: Find an accountant or bookkeeper

Thank you Ailene. The transaction is in the correct amount ($3257.64) however it's not showing up when I try to do my very first credit card reconciliation. I see it in the register as a "Transfer" but what do I need to change it to so it shows on my reconcile page? and how? It is my very first ending balance when I first got the credit card.

Thank you Ailene. Which account should it be if it's not a transfer? The $3257.64 is my first ending balance from when I first got my credit card. I think because it's showing as a "transfer" it's not showing on my reconcile page, what do I need to do so that it shows up? When I try to do my very first month's reconciliation there are no transactions showing.

Thanks for getting back to us here in the Community, @helloakichang.

There are several ways of recording credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Based on your screenshot above, it seems that your transactions are recorded through the Transfer feature. With this, you'll have to categorize all of them accordingly to show them on the reconciliation page.

You need to review your credit card's register again and make sure you categorize your transactions accordingly (make sure transactions are recorded to the right account). You can follow the steps provided by my colleague above to complete the process.

Once all your transactions are categorized to the right account, you can go back to the reconciliation page and continue with the process. You can refer to his article for the step-by-step guide: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

I'm also adding this article to learn more about multiple ways in recording credit card payments in QBO: Record credit card payments. This way, you can keep track of your expenses and maintain accurate financial reports.

Let me know how it goes. If you have other reconciliation concerns in QBO, I'm just around to help. Take care always.
