If when linking my bank account there was 30+ missing transactions, should I enter them manually or is there a better way?

When entering manually it goes in as cash on hand when in fact that isn't the case. These transactions are from the same linked account, just didn't show up when linking.

If when linking my bank account there was 30+ missing transactions, should I enter them manually or is there a better way?

I understand the importance of keeping track of your transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), richardiproperty. Let me help you sort this problem out and get you back on track. 

 

QuickBooks Online downloads past transactions up to a certain date when you first connect your online bank and credit card accounts. It's also important to note that QBO won’t download pending transactions. It only downloads transactions when they’re no longer pending and are officially posted on the bank site.

 

Here are three areas in your account that we can check to find missing transactions you recently downloaded:

  • Start in the For review tab. This is where QuickBooks puts recently downloaded transactions. If you find the missing transaction, categorize it into an account. Transactions don't show up on your books until you categorize them.
  • Next, check the Categorized tab. This tells you what happens to transactions you already categorized. Specifically, review the Added or Matched column. This tells you which account you categorized the transaction into. 

 

If you find your missing transactions, but they're in the wrong account, follow the steps in this article to unmatch them and move them to their appropriate accounts

 

We also have the option to manually download your transactions to QBO. To do that, we need to request the transaction information or bank statement in CSV or QBO file format from your bank. After doing this, we can manually upload it. 

 

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Select the Link account dropdown, then click Upload from file
  4. Select Drag and drop or select files and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then, select Continue.
  5. In the QuickBooks account dropdown, choose the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then, select Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then, select Continue.
  7. Select the transactions you like to import. Then, select Continue.
  8. Select Done once finished.

You can use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo @ $60 one time license) as a workaround.
