Is there a way to edit a check distribution after it is reconciled?

I'm not changing the check amount, only the distribution

Yes, just open the check and edit the details and save.

I can share with you the right way to edit a check distribution, @Anonymous.

As per john-pero, you can edit the check distribution regardless if the transaction is reconciled or not. You can use the Search feature for an easier way of finding the check transaction. Just make sure you have some details such as name, amount, dates or others.

Once you're able to open the check, update the necessary information.

That should get you on the right track. Keep me posted if you have other QuickBooks inquiry. I'm still here to help you more.

Sorry @HoneyLynn_G  you are so far off base here. You do not. Absolutely do not have to unrecocile a check in order to change the expense item or items detail. All you do is edit. Period. Reconciliation does not lock distribution.

What confuses people is that QBO gives a big scary and stupid warning when you save anything on a reconciled transaction.  It should just warn when changing the amount or date (to after the rec date). In fact it shouldn't let you change these things, if reconciled
