Linking a Bank Account

Hi everyone,

I am getting the following error when I try to link my Bank Novo account to QBO. I've tried different browsers and am using the correct password. I can login directly to my bank on both my PC and phone. I also entered the wrong password intentionally as a test and received the exact same error.

"Something unexpected happened and we couldn't connect to your bank.

Try signing in again, and check for typos and other errors. If that doesn't work, try signing in on the Novo site. (189)"

The login URL https://app.banknovo.com/login shown in in QBO matches the bank's login URL.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Linking a Bank Account

Welcome to the Community, @jakalis. I appreciate you reaching us and provide detailed information about your concern.

It could be that your bank does not connect to all types of accounts, this is why you're unable to get it link with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

At this point, I'd recommend contacting your bank to verify if they can allow QBO to sync with your online banking. In the meantime, you may want to import your Novo Bank transactions using an Excel CSV (comma-separated values) file.

First off, you'll need to download transactions from your bank and save the file where you can easily locate it like your desktop. Then, follow the steps below to manually upload your transactions:

  1. Go to the Settings (gear icon) menu from your QuickBooks company, then select the Import data under Tools
  2. Select Bank Data, then click Browse and locate the CSV file you've saved, then click Open
  3. Select Next, then select +Add new in the QuickBooks Account drop-down list. Follow the steps to add a new account in the Chart of accounts
  4. Click Next, then select the date formatDescription, and Account. Choose the number of columns according to your CSV template. Then, select Next
  5. Review all transactions, then click Next if it looks good.

Once done, select the Yes button to confirm, then click Let's go! when it's completed. You can now go to your banking page and review your transactions to make sure they're added to QuickBooks. Just in case, you can refer to this help article to give you more ideas about the CSV template format: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files
